Default Cherry blossom shots: CC please

I was attempting to get some shots of the brand new cherry blossoms that are just coming out by our house, and I'd really appreciate getting some CC on them. I was having a bit of trouble with exposure, and shooting in one direction it was bright blue sky and in the other was very gray, so they're all pretty different shots.

All were taken with ISO 100 in Manual, SS 1/1600. I will post apertures individually.

Ooo! Pretty flowers! I'm not seeing much blooming here at the moment. I did see some flowers at my parents house the other day, so hopefully soon!

You have some nice bokeh going on in these. I really like #5 for some reason. I think it's a neat angle.

Beautiful! my faves are #1 and #5, those are just so yummy, and #4 has awesome colors, I just wish the comp were somehow different, but I LOVE it nonetheless!

    Thanks Stephanie and Amy!

Amy, I tried to crop #4 differently, but there is a house in the background. This is SOOC:

It bugs me, because I like that one too, and I was trying so hard to avoid getting the houses in the shots, but goofed on this one (and on #1 too, but that one isn't quite as noticeable).

I think I like the original better only because there are more of those gorgeous orange leaves to see....I don't mind seeing that corner of the roof because it's OOF enough to look ok...or you could even clone it out. I would probably crop it as an 8x10" to fill the frame as much as possible but the color of the sky is also really great there! Such a beautiful slate-blue-gray.

What a lovely set! I have always wanted to see the cherry blossoms bloom in person. They don't grow around here.

    1. I love your composition here. Exposure looks a little dark to me, but I'm at work and don't trust that very much. Focus looks really nice, especially considering your shallow DOF.

    2. again, it looks a little under exposed. don't be afraid to blow out the sky to preseve detail in your main subject. Again, composition is really nice - I especially like the leading line of the branch.

    3. i love the sun flare here! and I think i like the blue sky that you have here better than the grey background. still slightly under exposed, but I think it could be fixed in ACR - this one really doesn't need more than a slight bump.

    4. LOVE LOVE LOVE it! wish this had the blue background, but even so, still a very nicely executed shot. Exposure looks better, though wb seems a little cool to me (again, remember I'm at work though). Great angle and composition.

    5. LOVE the change in perspective. It has an alien feel to me that I often get in macro shots. blown spot on the left is a ittle distracting, but not too much.

    6. love the perspective here as well, but again it looks under exposed - probably due to the grey sky/clouds.

TFS! These are all really nice! You should be very proud of them.

    Best,
    GiGi

Thanks, GiGi. Really helpful CC. I do get worried about blowing the sky too much, so underexpose a lot these days. I need to stop doing that! No time today but I would love to play with some of those shots with the exposure and WB that you mentioned and see if I can tweak them to be a little better.

I tried making some of the adjustments GiGi suggested. There's not a great deal of difference in any of them, as some of the highlights of the blossoms themselves would be blown if I took them too much farther, but I tried to improve things. If anyone has CC on the edits, I'd appreciate that also! Thanks!
