    Default A confession and a vent ... =/

Back in July I got a seriously bad virus on my laptop that pretty much messed all kinds of things up. I managed to get rid of the virus but not all of it. It was one of those viruses that doesn't allow you to surf the net to find a solution or even go into your firewall or antivirus program. It just gave me lots of popups telling me I had a serious virus and to get rid of it I needed to purchase their antivirus program. lol Yeah right! It looked legit and everything but it is not. I got it from just browsing some random website on photography. That sucked! When I got rid of it, things looked normal again but that's when my problems started. Shortly after that happened I photographed my friends wedding. I started editing a few in my last couple weeks of vacationing in Colorado. I told them I would try to get them done by mid August. It seemed like such a long time but I didn't really want to spend ALL of the last two weeks of my vacation in front of the computer editing. I ONLY get to see my family once a year. Ya know? I also wanted to double check on my external monitor if the coloring was ok. And it was. I printed out some test pictures from mpix before I came back and they looked awesome! Loved them! I gave those test pictures to them. My friend was satisfied. She's really easy going. She said to take my time. Well I never wanted to take THIS long to edit pictures. My goodness! I have been having computer problems all the month of august! Explorer not responding every single time I would open a folder or transfer a file or even open a program or whenever I'd use firefox. I thought maybe it was my windows profile so I created a new one and moved all my files there thinking it would help. It didn't. So I moved back to my old one since there were some things I couldn't quite move. Ugh. It's so complicated. lol Finally DH told me to back up ALL my files and he would reinstall Windows Vista for me. So he did finally, lastnight. And it seems to be working like new again. I think my laptop was just too cluttered after using it for 2 years. I have 200gb free space on my C drive again! lol yay!

Before my DH did this though, I wanted to edit my pictures without having all those explorer problems and moved my external hard drive upstairs to his computer room. I calibrated this monitor like 6 times and finally have it to how it looked on my laptop external monitor. I reinstalled photoshop..etc. Now, its giving me problems! I think computers hate me So after going through all this trouble of calibrating and customizing I am going to have to reinstall photoshop on my laptop again and calibrate...again. ALL this on top of me having a cold for the past week and just life in general. Ugh! I feel so bad for not having it done. I am so close too. I'm just seriously kicking myself right now. I needed to vent. Thanks.

Hate viruses, this is why i opted for a Mac. I just don't get inundated with viruses on it. I souls seriously invest my money on one as a recommendation.

    Sorry you are having problems.

WOW! What a rough go! I don't have any advise either, but I do hope you get back on your feet (digitally speaking, of course) soon.

    (((HUGS)))

don't be too hard on yourself. I am sure your friends understand and you did such a great job on the wedding pics. It'll all be worth it in the end.

I truly hope this is the last of your computer woes.

thanks gals somehow getting it out helped. I msg'd my friend telling her that I honestly wasn't doing this on purpose. I just got life going on on top of all of this. It makes me think of how I'm really going to get so much editing done once (if I ever do) go into business. But I keep reminding myself I'm not always going to have my kids at home with me. They will eventually start school I have some free time on my hands now with Mikael going to daycare twice a week. But here I've been having computer problems and haven't gotten a single thing done lol Oh well!!

El - My husband actually said I might want a Mac in the future. I'm seriously considering one! I use to love macs...but that was waaaay back in the day when I was still in school. lol!

I'll just throw in that I have a mac at home and I seriously love that machine!

I work on a PC at the office and even have to deal with mainframes on a regular basis, but my mac outshines them all (imho).

I just thought I would stop by with a and let you know I can kind of relate. I REALLY need a new computer as mine is frequently doing random shut-downs (and several other things, lol) but there isn't extra in the budget for that. I'm sure your friend understands that you aren't blowing her off.

Any idea what site you picked up the bug on? I want to avoid it

Err I don't know what site it was on. It was one giving me tips on what to do and what not to do on photoshoots. I guess I was just looking up some tips getting ready for my friends wedding. Weird thing is is that AVG didn't pick it up. I mean, I googled it, and there was a check mark beside the link so avg didn't see it as a threat. I clicked on it and somehow some file must have gotten downloaded onto my laptop. It was strange and horrible!
