COTW - Panning (ends 8/22)

We have another challenge to sharpen our collective skills and this one promises to be a lot of fun!

Gwen (coolmama72) has suggested panning action shots.

"The basic idea behind panning as a technique is that you pan your camera along in time with the moving subject and end up getting a relatively sharp subject but a blurred background.

Have fun! And remember to turn off your sig's when posting!

NOTE: deadline extended until 8/22

OK. This was a LOT harder than I expected! This is the best I've gotten so far. I'm hoping to get the opportunity to try this again real soon, but until then here's my play on this theme:

it IS hard! I still need to give this a shot again. you did a good job keeping his head in focus and we have a great sense of the motion. Smile

thanks, Gwen. I tried moving my focus point around and seeing how it looked w/ his feet/legs in focus and in one shot only the ball is in focus. This was my favorite of the set, but I TRULY want to try and get something better. Smile

This is really hard! Here's my entry for now ... goofy girl wanted to swing with her eyes closed.

And my fun play with my attempts do capture the same with Natalie (not my entry but wasn't sure where else to share it)

Everyone's are soooo good!! I couldn't do this to save my life. But here is my attempt! And my entry.

DH was being a nerd and wouldn't let me keep practicing. He told me he looked like a dork running back and forth on the street. So this is like my 4th attempt and the only one relatively close.

ETA: I lightened the original pic up a bit after I posted it. After it uploaded into photobucket, it got really dark or something. So I lightened it up.

Why is my post so messed up with the photo off to the right in its own block, and when I try to edit the post to get rid of the bad image link, it's not even in the edit box?

Amy, I don't know what it's like that. I can't seem to edit and fix it either.

Hopefully for the voting thread nothing funny will happen.

It's good to see all these entries! WTG Ladies!

Gwen ... I like your fun play w/ Natalie's pics. I wish there was a third image in between the 2 though to make it look more like a progression. At first, I thought it was 2 different kids swinging - I had to do a double take. Smile

Nice work guys!

Best,
GiGi

I'll post it one more time just incase that particular reply is malfunctioning and/or can't be used (3rd time is a charm, right?):
