I haven't shared more than the occassional snap lately, so I thought I'd put up these for c&c, if you don't mind.
1. f/2.5 ss=1/50 iso=200 50mm
this was Loli's first day of 3rd grade. Despite the silly grin, I really love this one. might be mommy goggles, but he so rarely allows this kind of photo that I just ate it up. The only pp was a slight wb adjustment.
2. f/2.2 ss=1/160 iso=500 50mm speed light used
I dragged the camera back to muay thai class this week. I've really been trying to work on shooting in the gym w/ its horrible lighting. This was my favorite of the set. Only pp was a crop to move him off center a bit.
3. f/5 ss=1/60 iso=500 65mm speed light used
OK. this one was terribly underexposed and you can tell. shutter speed was too low as well, but I still love this one. I think it's a totally sentimental thing. My big guy here is in the ring, but you can see Logan in the background working on the heavy bags. Does anyone know of a way I could clean this up so that it would be print worthy? I'll probalby print it anyway, but I'd like it to be something that someone more than myself would enjoy seeing. Does that make sense?
and just for fun ... here's my latest muay thai collage for Logan. he LOVES this one. I'm always open to suggestions though:
YAY more posts from you!
1) love. How can you not love that face! Geez, he's so handsome! I would just say crop out the plant on the right. Is there a slight shadow on his face? Randy's pics always have that problem.
2) Honestly, I like your processing on this pic on your poster. The reason being is, it looks a bit flashy, even though you used your speedlight. love the focus on the hand!
3) I can understand why you love this photo. I have no idea if it can be fixed, but it's a keeper! If it can't be fixed, maybe you can try this again soon.
Oh, the poster- ADORE! I love how it looks like he kicked the pic. Great effects!

Great pics, love #1. The bokeh of the bricks is nice. I agree, I'd try cloning or cropping out the plant leaves. Your boy has that look down pat! I love the focus on the hand with the way the glove is wrapped through his fingers. Such sharp details. I have no clue on how to fix #3, but very neat capture with the two of them working so hard.

Love #1. It's not mommy goggles at all. I know how hard it is to get them to sit for a shot, so like you say, run with it!
I agree that #2 is a great shot, but I also prefer the processing used on the collage. I love the DOF.
I also don't know how to save #3, but I can see why you want to print it, it's neat.
LOVE the collage, can't think of much I would want to change
Great stuff!!! He is just the handsomest little man!!! He's gonna break some hearts when he's older for sure! LOL
That collage is awesome. Love the colors, the kick starburst effect, and the images.

Great pics. Love the grin on number 1. The collage is great. I love the effect like he kicked it. Prob one of my favs and you make a lot of great ones. My oldest started Karate about 3 weeks ago and they have b ulletin board with pictures. Everytime I see them I think of your collages
Thanks guys. I still don't know what to do w/ #3. I've tried some grunge processing, but so far nothing has really felt right to me. I'm planning to set it aside for a couple of days and then come back to it. If I can't clean it up then I'll probably just print a small print for me and try to catch something similar on another day.:\
Also, I wanted to show #2 on it's own with the 'urban acid' processing. The pp is a combination of Steven Almas' "urban acid" action and the "colorized" action by Pioneer Woman. I think I might have added a slight vignette as well.
I have found that this combination of actions works really well with the coloring in that gym.
Anyway ... thanks again everyone!
Every time I see your son he is looking much older. I don't know if that is a good thing or bad thing. I like #1 a lot, I would crop it close (just my preference). I also find the shadow on his face a bit harsh, maybe bright that side up a bit, then again I like bright bright things, haha.
Is this his Muay Thai? How is he liking it? It looks more physical, no? The collage is excellent!

Just chug-chug-chugging along.
I think the first one -- you had it! I think that one shows the most promise! I would just love to see the curved bumped and some more processing done on it.
GiGi, look at your boy!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm loving that first one. I do agree about taking out the plant, if you can. but it doesn't really matter, because the attention really is on him. Love his expression, and he looks happy to go to school.
2. this is so cool! I love how his fish looks like it's coming right to me. so glad you brought your camera to the gym.
3. my gut is to tell you to try again. I just don't like how OOF Carlos is. The other guy is more in focus, ya know? But I do agree that it's so cool that Loli is in the background, it's an awesome capture. I just wish your SS had been higher (along with your ISO to make that work).
Loving the collage, that's so cool! What are the letters on it? the processing is wicked cool!
