Crazy weekend: Big share

I had quite the weekend, first shooting a friend's daughter's birthday party, which was really fun (and I was extremely grateful for a mutual friend's loaner of their Nikon D50 with 50mm prime lens for the event)... I will post photos of that soon. Then the next day, I drove 1.75 hours south to the tulip fields in Washington with a friend of mine, and we shot the tulip fields for a good 3+ hours. I have never paid such a high price for my photography addiction before, though. My arthritis with all of my medication changes and issues lately has left me in less than ideal shape, and 3+ hours of walking through tulip fields shooting was so hard on me that I basically did not do a thing when I got home or for a full day... and a friend who saw the state I was in took my kids off my hands for 5 hours yesterday. I only edited photos for about 45 minutes total yesterday, too. But today I'm doing better and managed to pick out my favourites from the day. I was happy with some of the photos, and thought I'd share some with you. These were taken with my friend's Nikon as well as our own P&S, as the Nikon has sensor issues above f8 or so. CC always welcome.

#8 - It was mostly gray and cloudy, but we got a few sun breaks. It was really hard to get good landscape shots; either people were walking through the fields or there were a lot of houses/farms/cars in the distance. But here's a couple, starting with:

There are a handful more in the Flickr set.

Gorgeous shots, Tracy! My favorite is #4, with #3 and #2 close behind Smile I can tell just how much you love landscape/non-portrait shots.

Sorry it put you out though. Sad At least you'll have these awesome shots to remember and keep forever Smile

Favorite- can't pick! These are gorgeous! And the color on those pink ones!? TO DIE FOR! Great job Tracy. I too am sad it put you out though. My dad suffers from arthritis and it's so hard on him. At the end of the day he can't stand up straight, and I don't even think he can hold his newborn grandson. Sad (((HUGS)))

Thanks, ladies! I really loved the colours, and it was such a bonus that it had rained that morning. In fact, we almost didn't go because it was so foggy it seemed like it wouldn't clear up; but we went on faith and the rain drops added so much to the close-up images, and then the sky cleared somewhat for us too.

That's really rough -- your poor dad! I have an autoimmune arthritis and remember watching a documentary of a mom whose arthritis flared within 24 hours after giving birth, and she literally could not hold her own newborn. It was heartbreaking. I'm blessed that nothing like that happened with me and my babies, but certainly arthritis makes my life very challenging. I gave up a career in music because of it, and now it seems sad that something else I love so much can take its toll too. But if I've learned one thing with my arthritis, it's that I have to be adaptable; when it comes to photography, I think that means... shooting for hours on end is a BAD idea, but pacing myself makes it manageable!
