Data Recovery? (And a Share)

I spent over an hour last night taking pictures outside of my DD. When I got inside to download them I stupidly had the idea to clean off the SD card WHILE the pictures where downloading. Needless to say I lost everything (except 10 of probably my worst pictures :lol)

Anyone know of a free data recovery program? I downloaded a couple but they all wanted me to pay in order to actually RECOVER the photos.

Also, I wanted to share a new fav rose picture, but didn't want to start a whole new thread...combining the two!

I wish I knew of something to help you. Sad saw on FB that you tried a couple of things. what's ironic is that I used to do media forensics in my past life, but now I can't think of any of the tools to save my life!!!

and I love the rose, beautiful!

i also don't know of any program to help you out sorry Sad i hope you get them back though, somehow! do you mean you were deleting the pictures while they were uploading to your computer? I know when i upload them there is a little box i can check if i want it all to be deleted after upload but not during. ?

Thanks girls Smile

Loida, I'm sure it did say something and I just clicked and made windows go away without even looking at them. It's a bad habit. Like I said, I was stupid for even doing it in the first place! The part I'm baffled about is that they didn't go to my recycle bin. I thought when you deleted something it went to the bin...but these didn't Sad

hmmm weird and they didn't upload anywhere on your computer? or somewhere? no it wouldn't go to the recycle bin because it's deleting it from your card not your computer. that sucks. I wonder why it didn't upload them though..hmm.

I don't have any advice on the data recovery. I'm one of those paranoid freaks that has to have 3 copies of the files before I will consider removing them from my memory card.

But I did want to say how much I love that rose!!! The composition is really nice. I could see this on the cover of a Mother's Day card. Smile

I have no advice for recovering....sorry. That's a bummer.

As for the rose- ADORE it! I agree, it would be perfect for a MD card!

Oh no, I would be sick too, sorry Sad I agree that if you were deleting them off the SD card then no they would not go in the recycle bin because that's a hard-drive trash bin, not on the card which is a separate entity. Sad

Love the rose! You had the vintage rhododendron pic, right? a few weeks ago? I am trying to do an edit like that on a new azalea pic of mine but couldn't remember which action you used--I don't use actions because I'm in PSP but I can do them similarly in PSP if the site provides step-by-step explanation.

is it a scan disk card? if so they have a program on thier website i beleive (not sure if its free) also i've heard of photorescue before, it allows you to use the free trial to see if they can be recovered, then you have to pay to actually get them back.

I did. I used this free action for PSE: http://coffeeteaphotography.blogspot.com/2009/10/coffeeshop-vintage-blush-pspse-action.html

It spells out the steps (I guess), so you might be able to do it yourself. I upped the saturation and sharpness with the original picture before running the action.

I'll have to check when I get home. I think it's a SanDisk SD card. I'll have to do some research on their site. I'm not quite willing to pay for these photos. They weren't amazing photos, just a disappointment that I lost them Sad

I had something like that happen last summer and I had like 2 months worth of pictures. I found a program online that lets you know if they can be recovered and THEN I had to pay. It was like $50, but SOOOOOOO worth it to me. They were snapshots of some of the first few months of my girls life, so they were priceless. I always make sure they are saved in MULTIPLE places before I delete them, but this was DH's doing. He no longer will touch the memory cards for our camera again!

Beautiful rose!

lol Tara! your DH sounds like my DH. My husband breaks things sometimes and I'm just like ARggh! Why'd you do that? lol He broke our stroller (a $1000 stroller/pram) and tried fixing it with wire. OMG it was horrible looking! I never used it again after that. And he's done other stuff too. He never means to do any of it but argh! Just leave it alone! Lol

ok sorry ... carry on Smile

The lens was a Tamron 28-75 2.8 and the settings are 1/2000 f/3.5 ISO 100

It was very bright and full sun. I found from my first attempt at roses that stopping down to 2.8 was too shallow. I closed the app down a bit more this time. Wish I had done it a tad more and focused better on the center of the rose. Oh well, you live and learn.

Also, thanks to ya'lls suggestion, I have made this into the cover of a mother's day card for my mom!

It may have turned out kind of cheesy, but I had to quickly put it together last night in order to get it to the printer and back before Sunday!
