December challenge?

Amy recently posted an awesome light bokeh photo on Facebook. So I was thinking it would be a really neat idea to have "lights" as the theme for December. that way it's not really a holiday focus, but the holidays do allow for different captures of light. "Lights" can be captured in a variety of ways, and so I think it would be a fun board challenge to do.

Amy, can you share your photo here so my post makes more sense? Wink Thanks!

I'm really really really behind on posting, here and other places on pg.org. Business and travel have been taking my time. I really hope to catch up soon, I really miss posting!

Awwww thanks Gwen & GiGi! I'm glad you like it! I was laughing as I took it because at first I was trying to get the bokeh by putting my hand in the foreground to get the focus right, but the camera didn't like that--it wouldn't take the shot. So I focused on my hand, kept holding the button halfway, while switching the lens to manual focus, then completing the shot. lol!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the idea of "Lights" as a December theme!!!! I have always adored glowing lights, low lights, sparkly lights, anything like that. That's why last year I did some of Eva's Christmas photos next to the glowing tree in low light--I just love that. I hope to do that again this year, but with better settings now that I know what I'm doing lol

I love that bokeh shot! Smile I am going to be taking out all my christmas things tomorrow...which isn't much unfortunately. This whole moving process has been going on for a couple years now and it's prevented me from buying really cute Christmas stuff Sad Can't wait to get started! Hopefully I'll be able to go downtown for some Christmas lights there.

I LOVE that shot. I have no idea even how you did that, but I love it!

This is a wonderful idea. Loida - if I remember, I thought you did something like this in one of the COTW challenge? I'll have to find your post if its still up.

Not last year, but during xmas for sure. searching thru the COTW posts.
I see it in your flickr... it's title city lights. I think you have posted it here before.

Umm... I guess the forum only keeps a certain amount of post, no wonder I couldn't find that specific COTW challenge.

it's the only one like it I have. I'll have to try to get another this year for Christmas Smile I remember putting my lens on manual focus and then adjusting til I got some nice blurry lights.

Great idea! And Amy I LOVE that photo! Can you post your Christmas pic of Eva from last year? I would love to see it, maybe it can help give me some ideas of what to do for the girls. I really need to get some pictures taken so I can order Christmas cards.

Wow that's so great, Loida, they're so much rounder than mine...mine was with the 50mm f/1.8 lens...which is known for its "dreaded" 5 blades/bokeh LOL

Tara, here are the ones I did a year ago....PLEASE FORGIVE the slow SS and weird lighting on Eva's skin in the first one, lol! I knew very little at the time and was just focusing on getting the tree right and didn't know how to combine the right settings so Eva's movement wouldn't be blurred. Sad

I would still love to know where everyone gets their wood flooring, too.

I just found this:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003ZYEEDM/ref=pd_lpo_k2_dp_sr_1?pf_rd_p=1278548962&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe-1&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B000V7251O&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=0Z9R8D8NC6PS3Z0T4WHD

But I see it has interlocking squares with noticeable seams. Still looking at others, too....

Gwen I've always liked LTD/ABC. I wish they had that right now, I'd get it. But I didn't see any on their sites. Their stuff fluctuates so often.

that looks cool but small ... and I'd worry about the puzzle seams. but still, that's a neat idea. Smile

Yeah I noticed that after I posted the link. Everything else I'm finding is upwards of $100. I think I'll browse the local Lowe's store for maybe some vinyl wood-look remnant or other wood-look remnant....
