    Default Editing question

I took this snap of my daughter yesterday, and I really liked how it turned out. But I did have a question: I was editing out a scratch she had on her eye and what not, and was wondering about the hair on her lip. (My poor, beautiful girl is going to have real hair issues when she's a teen... quirky eyebrows and lip hair. ) I was going to try to clone it out or something, but I have NO idea how to go about doing that with fine hairs like that.

What would you suggest? OR, would you not edit it at all? I mean, this is the way she looks, KWIM?!

Editing questions like these should always include which editing software you're using. I know exactly what I'd do with photoshop CS5....butno other version of photoshop has the tool I would try first.

The basic skin smoothing technique using Gaussian blur and add noise would be my 2nd choice, but requires you be able to use masks. I would absolutely NOT try to fix it using the clone tool. It would take forever to get it right and may in the end look no better than the original.

Sorry Amber, forgot -- the software I use is GIMP. I should be able to do what you're suggesting in GIMP, thanks for the advice!

OK, I did an edit following Amber's suggestion. It's a bit hard to see at this size, but anyway, here it is. I think it's not too bad. Not nearly Amber's quality work, but it's my first try. Really appreciate the pointers, Amber!

I really would not worry about it....

If you want to get rid of it you can try the clone tool. You did a pretty good job.

You did a great job!! I also would have tried either a guassian blur or the patch tool--not sure if gimp has that? Either way you did a good job!
