Engagement CC

I had my first paid session yesterday, which also happened to be my first session without kids. My friend contacted me about taking her sister's engagement photos. I was really nervous about it, and just kinda hoping that I didn't revert back to making silly noises, and saying things like "stinky feet" to get their attention Wink But they went really well, and my friend said that they had nothing but good things to say afterwards.

Anyway, I'm in the middle of processing these, and I'd like some feedback, if you could. Anything and everything you can think of. And be harsh!

Love the warmth in these. You did great.

CC from me

1. A little too centred for my taste. But the pose is awesome.

2. I like it but they are kind of lost in there.

3. Love this!

I think you did great. My only comment is I think you clipped the black on this. and the 3rd they look yellow to me.

Well done, this is a nice little set! I love the pose in the 1st, they are a tiny bit centred but it isn't a deal breaker for me. Love the second and quite like seeing more of the environment. I also think the black might be clipped. In the 3rd I love warm images but I might try and tone it down a little in their faces.

I know almost nothing about photography, just got my first big girl camera for Christmas so I just wanted to say that you better watch out Steph or you will be shooting their wedding!

1) I love how the light hits her hair in the first, it's the main thing that caught my eye.
2) The second one is neat how they look almost alone out there.
3) The third one is an awesome engagement photo and I wouldn't be surprised if the choose this one because their smiles are so natural looking and you can really see their connection.

I have been waiting for you to post some pics, and these are really awesome!

I really like #1 and #3. With #2, I understand the concept, but think the plants covering her hair are a bit distracting. You might edit so that they aren't so large or close to the focal point (i.e., the couple's faces).

Awww! These are great! I LOVE the pose in #1 and their smiles in #3. Number 2 could maybe use a closer crop?

Thank you for your feedback, everyone!

For #2, I do have a couple of others as an option. Do you like either of these better? (Yes, the color isn't consistent...but which do you like better?)

I like the first of the two new ones best (but then, I prefer deeper colors in general). I definitely think it's a stronger shot without the grass covering her hair. Very nice!

Do you just prefer it because of the color? It's something that I can change. Or is it just the comp in general?

I love these! The only thing that bothers me slightly in number 1 is I wish she pointed her toe down. But I think tgat's because I've watched too much America's next top model lol

For number two, I like the first of the updates. Still the same context, but the grass isn't distracting. Lovely.

They are all great photos, beautiful. I love the fun feel of #1, I do agree that in #2 the plants are a bit of a distraction. In the newer additions I agree with Janet, I really like the first best.

My favorite by far is #3 of the first set. The others don't do much for me. The background in #1 is very pretty but I'm not a fan of the pose, that's just me though. I agree about her "toe" too lol I thought I was the only one who thought that.

The ones where they're far away in the grass just look like there's a casual conversation going on that you happened to snap. I do like the trees & sky in the first one of the new set though.

What a great location!!

I haven't read through every response, but I think the grass in the foreground is a bit distracting. Sometimes it's best to knock down or flatten the foreground grass, at least where it will be on the couple/subject.

The third in the first set I would have put them farther away from the tall grass to create more bokeh. It just seems to snapshotty because of how in focus everything is.

I think my favorite is #2 of the second set. It has less distracting elements, but the foreground grass is still an issue for me.
