A few for CC, Maternity & Newborn

Not pbing, just practicing and trying to learn. I feel like I'm getting better in some aspects, and not at all in others. I was practicing using my grey card though.

This one is SOOC, minus a few stretch mark removals. This is one of the few I can post, most she wanted were semi-nude for a VDay present for her DH. I actually thought those turned out decent!

I know the sun is blown. I tried a million settings and unfortunately found my d60 only goes up to 1/4000 and the sun was STILL blown, so I still thought this one looked the best of them. It wasn't even a hill, but the highest spot I could get. They tried for 4 years to have this baby, so I kind of thought it represented their long road.

Hmm, I'll have to doiuble check to see if there's one where I didn't chop off her head, lol. Whoops, learning.

He was only there for a limited amount of time. They wanted one outside their house, and it was way before sunset and good lighting for outdoors.

And one of the few decent ones I got of LO. He was awake the WHOLE time. And mom and dad didn't want to be in any pictures. Ugh. I am loving practicing, but at the same time it's very frustrating to be working with people that aren't fully into it. (Like they don't *really* care because they're not paying for it, kwim?) They have one of those beautiful big beds, I really really wanted to do the picture of all of their feet togeter and them OOF at the head of the bed. Sigh. Or even the two of them holding LO since he was awake the whole time, but no Sad

Anyways, I'm going back and trying his 1 month shots. Any suggestions, I would love and appreciate!! I'm pretty sure they'll be up for being in some pictures then Smile I hope my reasoning for each pic doesn't sound like excuses, I just thought I'd give a little background to help with any suggestions.

I don't have a lot of time but here are a few suggestions:

1. Is underexposed and could use some skin smoothing.

2. She is lost in the pic because of the placement of the horizon. And you can blow the sun. It is the sun. If you want a sunflare look though you need to close up your ap to like 18.

3. Same as above. She is lost. I think it is too dark.

4. Nice compositiona nd the sky is nicely exposed. I would bring up the exposure on them.

5. The wb is a little off. Looks like you used a tungsten light in there. And I am not loving the crop. But the focus looks good.

Thank you, thank you Steph! ITA about 2 & 3, I'm getting down on the ground next time! Thanks for all of the other cc too. I didn't even realize, they probably had their kitchen light on in #5. How do you notice that in a picture? Yup, ITA crop stinks too, I actually had to rotate the picture since he was flat on his back and unfortunately had to chop of his head to crop. Maybe I should try not sitting him up as much.

See the yellow glow on the top left of his head and the slight glow to the left side of his nose. I would bet that is from the tungsten light. It gives a very warm light compared to natural light indoors. So it makes it impossible to globally wb any picture when both are present.

Totally, 100% okay to blow the sun. You should probably let it blow a bit more to get more light on the rest of the image...it's too dark to get the story you're trying to tell.

I am not great at cc, but I'll bite! Wink

First off- good for you for getting out there and doing this! I have a maternity shoot coming up and I can't wait!

1- Totally agree with the skin smoothing and underexposure. I do like it though. The blanket looks good.
2- love the representation of the long road. What a neat idea! Biggrin The ap should have been closed some more though. I took a pic like this, and I liked it, just wish I would have known better.
3- same as above. I do wish we could see her head though. Wink
4- I would like to see a closer crop here. Nice pic though.
5- babies are always hard in my opinion for skin. I think you did a pretty good job. I think the wb is off a bit though.
