    Default A few random questions

I feel like the photography thing is starting to click a little bit, but I'm wondering if I'm making it harder than it really is?
I mainly take pictures of my kids and friend's kids--so I'm wondering if there is a better way to focus than by recomposing--I feel like a lot of times I'm so busy trying to recompose that I miss the cute smile or expression. Is there another good way of getting good focus? (am I making sense here?)

Also, I see everyone raving about the Tamron 28-75 2.8. There happens to be one for sale on craigslist for $275...which from looking around seems kind of cheap. How can I be sure that this lens hasn't be dropped or beat up? I'd love to purchase it since I take mainly portraits of people but don't want to buy someone else's garbage.

Thanks for any help you can give me.

the 28-75 has been known to have soft copies (mine included!). I've seen some great work done with it though, so I think it's a roulette for what you're going to get!

Which camera do you have? Some allow you at the back to toggle your focus point in camera so that you don't have to recompose

just wanted to say I have the same issue, my model is 15 months old and I was trying to keep the focus on center and then recomposing, but I do miss some of those quick cute moments doing this

would love to know a better, quicker way
