Took these around sunset. I was trying to practice that sunset/haze look that I've seen over at ILP. I had a hard time focusing though! I couldn't get my settings right either. I will have to practice some more. Any tips on that would be great! My daughter was the only one being cooperative. I hardly ever get any good shots of my son perhaps someday! I had to bribe my daughter with candy. She was so hyper! She wouldn't sit still lol
total mommy goggles on these pics it still gets a bit chilly here at night and in the mornings.
and not a very flattering shot of her I know but I had to work fast and i just couldn't focus properly. The AF wouldn't work most of the time. I just wanted the practice
I had a hard time with the skin tones and the sunset color! I have to try to use my WB card more often. but i totally love this shot
the grass doesn't look the same in this one. I might have to go back and re-edit to see what I did wrong.
And I know his hand is a bit blurry There wasn't enough light inside my house. It was underexposed and yeah but i loved this smile.
I am now getting used to my new colors on my monitor. Everything looked way too warm to me before but when i looked at it for the first time today it looked normal. I hope it still is! Let me know how the coloring is. I also tried using CMYK %'s.
thanks for looking any CC would be awesome! if you'd like the settings I can post those tomorrow! need sleep now...way past my bedtime lol
What great shots! I am not feelin' number 2, but LOVE #1 and 3. In 5, I can't how big he is getting!

I really like #1, 3, and 4, with #3 being my favorite! Your daughter is a beauty!

#3 is darling! I think #4 is off because it's a bit cool. Love the last one! It's precious...I see where the focus caught the contrast of his pajamas (the red and blue area), but his face still looks good. What a great smile! Digging the flare in #1 too!!

for the second forget her...how's everything else?
#4 is probably a bit cooler yeah. I was doing the white balance thing and it kept saying that that was the right coloring I should know better by now. I guess sunsets are a bit warmer huh? I'll re edit.
I think the focus did fall on his pj's on the last one. it was such a quick shot. his laugh lasted for like only 3 seconds this kid is hard to photograph!
thanks for all your comments!

you know...for #1 i actually had to save a lot in PS It wasn't blown (just the sky area, the sky was ok) but it was too much haze in front of her so i had to really increase the blacks and contrast. I shot in RAW thank goodness my settings were f/2.8 ISO 100 SS 1/160. I'm thinking I should have increased something there but I was having such a hard time focusing on just her. I should have put my lens hood on but I didn't. There's a good read in ILP about backlighting, etc. I'm gonna have to go read it. And also I need to read more about metering because I don't know what it really means and if im doing it the right way I need to do some homework!
I can't wait to do this again though she was cooperating with me for a whole 10 minutes! I bribed her though told her I'd give her some candy when we went back inside. it worked and I got some practice! made me happy. The sunset is nice in our backyard like this. We have a view of the forest too. It's not as great as our neighbors but I'll take it!
