a few from yesterdays shoot cc welcome edits added

I like this 1st shot but I am thinking the window is starting to bother me a little? As for the other shots I need to clean up around the eyes some but whenever I do, I end up making her look too doll like. I need to sign up for a photoshop class and get myself more familiar with it cause at the moment I am only editing in lightroom.

EDITS ADDED UNDER EACH PIC
Sidenote: I saw this girl at a wrestling tournament. She was so beautiful so I walked up to her and asked if I could use her as a senior model for my site. She said yes and she would have her dad call me. I wonderered why her mom would not be the one who would call till I met her. I guess her mom had left when she was younger and her dad was raising her by himself. He was so nice asking every question a good dad would. I told her there would be no charge since I would be using her on my site. After I saw how photogenic she was I talked with her and her dad about modeling. Since I know Jasmin's agent very well she tells me if I notice anyone to send them her way.
When I shoot my senior girls I bring a rack of clothes along with makeup. We used minimum makeup but as I had her put on some lipgloss my heart just hurt for her that she learned to do makeup, her hair and everything else without her mom. We sorted thru clothes like friends mixing up outfits and trying this and that. We had music on and even started cracking up together when all of the boys at the skatepark were checking her out. She thanked me over and over and said she had so much fun. I am going to submit her to modeling so she can get papered all the time by makeup artists and hair stylist. This girl deserves a little pampering. Cross ur fingers she gets in!

I really liked the look of this backround but the only bad thing was the window was up high so she had to sit in the ledge. I think I am going to try again but bring a stool for the subject to stand on so they are not right against the building.

What way would you go with this? Don't think the edit is working in this one and I know I still need to fix the hair:) would u kep this one with a different edit or toss it?

For some reason most of my full shots were oof:( Still have to figure out why. I know it's not the lens cause I was using 2 different lenses. Then I was thinking it was me missing focus but it only happens when i'm zoomed out. example, this shot below is blurry and not sharp at all. So frustrating.
SOOC 1/500 ap4.0 iso250 70mm (I used an ap from 4.0 to f/8 but still got the blur)

She's beautiful, and you did a great job!

They all seem a touch dark to me, except #4, but perhaps that is because of her skin tone. I love the light in #2.

She looks fairly yellow in #3, to me... at least, yellow compared to the other images.

I love her expression in #1. The window does bother me a little, as it's brighter and pulls the eye; but only a little. Not a deal-breaker, as GiGi would say.

#4 is my favourite for exposure and expression. My only nitpick is I wish there was a bit more space to the right of the frame.

Thanks Tracy:) Just looked at #3 and I must of hit a slider cause she was not that yellow to begin with lol! I will have to fix that. I will brighten the rest up a bit cause I was thinking I love #4 but it's either a touch too bright or the rest are a touch too dark. I think I shot#3 with more space i will look and see if I have another. Smile

She is gorgeous! Love her hair!

1. It is a bit dark. Maybe try this in a vertical crop? The window does distract some.
2. Those eyes are fantastic! Is this cropped or in camera? I would love to see the whole pic if it's not in camera.
3. I love this one! I do wish it was a vertical crop b/c the red is distracting. Her skin is much different here than the others. IDK what it should look like.
4. I agree with Tracy on her CC on this one.
5. I could be wrong, but I think this one is ok. I don't think the focus is off. It's just harder when you zoom in.

These are nice. I don't have time for full CC right now. But I am seeing some type of skin tone is yellow, #3 specially and on her neck chest in the rest of the picture. I would up the exposure or brightness in these. There are several limb chops or chops in the joints, which I believe is a no-no.

Also Sadie that was an in camera crop but I have a ton more that are not so I will post them as I edit them. She was very excited about the couch so I told her we would shoot again and use it since it was all muddy out but the real reason I said we would shoot again is I think she just needs some more girl time:)

No time for a full reply...but just wanted to say that the last image isn't OOF. You can't expect the eyes to look the same in a 100% crop of a full body shot as they do in a 30% crop of a close up image. There are just way fewer pixels rendering that eye so it doesn't look as good zoomed all the way in....plain and simple.

Here is a better example with 2 different pictures. Yes the first one is edited but I did nothing at all to her eyes. So in the 1st one they are sharp but in the second one they look blurry. Maybe you are right and I am looking at them too large. I think I will develop one for once that I think looks blurry, and see how it comes out? thanks:)

Yes, that 2nd image is blurry....I'm pretty 99% sure it's not missed focus though...it looks like motion blur to me..probably hand shake. Do you know your settings? What focal length and shutter speed were you using?

Is this a full body shot? It doesn't look like one to me. In general the eyes in this image are much clearer than the one you posted in the original post. This indicates to me that this was a much closer shot.

The image you were concerned about in the OP does not show motion blur...and it doesn't look terribly OFF to me. I think that these images have two entirely separate issues. I think that first image is entirely useable.

Here are a few (almost) 100% crops at what I consider to be in focus.

100 percent full length

100 percent 3-4

100 percent headshot

Amber, THANKYOU so much for posting that! I have forever been kicking myself wondering what I am doing wrong and I think I am just expecting too much and or having motion blur at the same time.
You are correct the examples posted are of a different shot cause in that shot it was more noticable to me. My settings on the 2 close up shots were 1/250 f/4.0 and iso 250 shot at 135mm. It might be that when I get excited about how someone looks or is posing that I just snap away not noticing hand motion but I thought at 1/250 it would be okay. Do you think if I got a lens with IS I would have less of this problem cause I notice it alot. I am glad that I am not missing focus atleast.

I agree that second closer shot is motion blur.

I like your edits of the first set; but in my opinion in #3 that red section of the building provides more interest; I liked it there.

Of the 2 new additions (sepia ones) I LOVE the 2nd one but not in sepia; can you do it in color or B&W? I think she looks beautiful there, that is definitely my favorite shot but would love to see it in color or B&W.

I also wonder, did you get any shots of her smiling?

I kinda like the sepia one. But it seems sepia is a big hit and miss with people. I love a sepia one I did of Micah last fall, but got very mixed reviews on it from others. Some loved it, some really didn't.

I don't NOT like sepia, but with this one, would like the sepia better if it was brighter I think.

Great thanks girls I will post new edits as I work on them:) I'll also add some with her smiling Smile I appreciate the cc
I went shopping today cause it's my sons 16th birthday:( !!! So we took off school and spent the day at the mall. While he was trying on shoes I ran into a dress store. I found 2 dresses very country/lacy looking that would look great on some of the girls I shoot. I was thinking I should not get them since I bought the chair but looked at the price and they were marked down to 1.50 a dress! So I got 2 dresses for 3.00 and I am sure it will make some girl happy when I pull it out and ask if she wants to wear it! I'll add pics later of the 2. Anthony got some great stuff also:) Can't believe my baby is 16!

The dollar fifty dresses.

A dress I found to go with the chair! I'm taking pics of a 6 year old this weekend so I am going to put her in this on the chair and pull up her hair in a bun so it won't look too much. Hope it works out how I see it in my head:)
