field & jmk cc please

So, I went out to do some pics of Randy for his 2nd b-day, and ended up getting a lot of Ruthie instead. I also needed some of them from behind b/c a family member is in the vinyl wall decal business and she wanted to use some of my pics and make silouttes out of them with quotes. She's going to show my photos along with the wall art, so maybe it will bring some business my way.

Anyways, please cc these if you have time. I appreciate it ladies. Be honest. I need to start stepping up my game.

I know he's not looking at me in these first two- but they are SOOOO Randy. Did I screw them up?
1. needs to be brighter? Is it too soft?

Once again, take anything I say with a grain of salt. I'm not calibrated so if I say anything about colours it could just be my monitor Smile I'm just learning too but hoping by giving CC I can learn that way too Smile

1. Is a bit too soft to me. It looks like focus is on the flowers near his leg maybe? I think it is cute but the composition doesn't grab me.

2. I like the composition on this one much more. He is still a bit soft (coming from me who is forever out of focus!! Wink )

3. I like but she looks yellow to me. Might just be my computer.

4. Cute. I wonder how it would look in landscape view.

5. My favourite. I can just see them setting off on a journey in this one and she looks like she's helping lead the way Smile

6. I don't like this as much as #5. I think because they are sorting of leaning towards each other so you don't get the full behind them view. Also, her feet are almost lost.

Overall, I really like them. You did a great job!

1. He is just too close to the edge of the frame for me. It might work with a closer crop, though I really like all the space in front of him. I think you could make this one a little more special with a touch more PP. It's just not popping....but I'm glad that you haven't gone overboard with the contrast on the skin.

2. Again...just need a bit more space above his head.

3. Just so lovely! It's much too yellow though. Add blue and red for that lovely warm quality. I love everything else about this shot.

4. Needs just the tiniest bit of more room on the top and to the right. I love this one too. Looks too cyan. I'd add some red.

5. Wonderful composition. Just needs a bit more PP to make the image feel more special.

6. My least favorite of the bunch. May have worked if you had zoomed WAY back, but as looks like a snap.

As usual, you've already gotten some great CC, but I just want to say #5 is lovely. I really like the composition and feel of it. I actually have a "thing" for shots of kids walking away from the camera together like this -- they always make me go "awwww", and this one is really sweet.

#4 is a fun, sweet action shoot. The expression in #3 is beautiful -- your girl is a doll!

Can't comment on color because I'm at work (this monitor is horrible!).

But, I agree, I really really wish there was more space above Randy's head in 1 and 2. The crop is just too close. I do love the composition your doing, though. The sea of yellow flowers is very pretty. Watch out, though. Because you've got the line of the flowers ending and tree line beginning right through his head.

LOVE #3!!! Ruthie just looks so sweet. Wish she were looking right at the camera. Right now it looks like she's looking slightly off. Even on this crummy monitor, I can tell the color is off. I'd trust Amber's CC Smile

#4 would be neat as a landscape vs. portrait. Also, I feel like the crop is too tight, not enough space above her head.

#5 is a lot better than #6, but I wish you had gotten down just a tad more.

Good luck with the wall art!

Great shots!!!

Love #4, 5 and 6! I have a thing, like Tracy, with shots like that. I think it's so sweet!! And that is awesome about the wall art! KUP on that!! Smile

Ok, here are a few that I have worked on tonight. I really should be in bed. This week will be long and I have NOT been going to bed early....

I appreciate the cc, and please continue if you have time.

To me, this one and the one in OP seem about the same...what do you think? I like the next one better.

Sadie ...

first off ... LOVE THESE!!!! Randy is growing too fast though. Slow him down already!!!

1. this seems bright enough to me. I'm at work, so I can't comment much on color, but I will say that focus and exposure look pretty good. Love the comp as well.

2. I think this is bright enough, maybe even a touch too much. Doesn't look soft.

3. this looks slightly over exposed, but only just so. maybe it's more of the sunkissed feel you've got going. Gosh, Ruthie looks so grown up here. So pretty!

4. is it wrong of me that I can't help but think of Little Hous on the Prairie when I see this? love it!

5. I wish Randy wasn't looking down, but otherwise this one is a real winner for me. Looks GREAT and I'll bet it will be fabulous as a silouette.

6. is this an in-camera crop? I wish their feet weren't so close to teh edge of the frame. Looks a little over exposed as well.

OK ... I just saw the new edits. i'm still at work on this awful monitor though, so I still can't comment on color.

1. this new crop is also really nice. I happen to like the original crop as well, but this one also works well imho. Did you brighten it? The yellows seem more washed out to me here - I think I like the original better.

2. this looks like you added some kind of action and it works OK for me. I'd love to see this in b&w.

3. they're close, but I think I like the one on the right better. You can better see detail in her dress and the skin looks more natural to me.

4. I love it too!!!

I think all of the edits look great! Especially the crops in #1 and #4. They were really nice shots before, but really nice now. #4 is fantastic in landscape!
