So, I've been lurking for AGES, and I'm finally feeling brave enough to post for the first time! I've always been interested in photography, but I purchased my first camera, a Nikon D40, in February. I upgraded to a D90 in July. I have a long ways to go, but I've learned SO much since I started!
You've all been such an inspiration for me. There is SO much talent on this board, it's rather intimidating! Here is my info from the intro thread:
Children: 2 Girls, Breanna - 9yrs, Aidan - 15mo
What camera do you have? Do you like it?: Nikon D90. LOVE it.
What editing software do you use? Gimp mostly, although I just got Photoshop.
How long have you been interested in Photography? Forever, but really started in about February.
What kind of photos do you like to take? What is your style? I'm not sure I've found it yet.
What/who inspires you? Many of you have inspired me!

Here is some of my most recent (and proud!) work, please feel free to cc anything.
From our first snow day of the year:
All are ISO 100, Ap 1.8, 50mm
Exposure: 1/640 sec
Exposure: 1/400 sec
Exposure: 1/500 sec
PP 60% desat and contrast bump
Exposure: 1/800 sec
HATE the red truck in the background, lol
Exposure: 1/250 sec
Some other fairly recent work:
Exposure: 0.625 sec
Focal Length: 26mm
Flash Used: No
PP was star filter in-camera, desat and contrast bump. I know, her sleeve looks like a 2.
The computer these are all saved on is in the shop right now (lol) and some of them didn't have EXIF data included on upload.
Snapped out the car window on the way back from a shoot:
(again, settings unavailable, but this was handheld.)
Impromptu shoot on the way back from Black Friday shopping:
LOVE this pic, but HATE the cropped fingers:
And finally, a few faves from some shoots:
Thanks for looking!
Not sure why it's taken you so long b/c your pics are great! LOVING #3, it's amazing! Loving the style on #6. I need to have the kids lay down as well b/c that's a way to keep my ss low, but not have motion blur. #16 is great, love her freckles! TFS! I hope you keep posting!
those are great, welcome and glad you came out of lurking

welcome aboard! I can't believe you waited so long to post! You are already inspiring me!
Your DD is SO LOVELY! she looks like a model!
Thank you all for the compliments! I do have some work that I'm very proud of, but I'm also really pretty early in the learning process. As I said, I just started DSLR photography in March, and although I've grown a lot, I have SO much more to figure out! And I don't do very much PP at ALL, which I plan to change soon. I feel like I'm just now getting somewhere on my learning curve, and now I'm deploying to Iraq for a year. SO I'm going to concentrate on learning some good pp while I'm limited on my picture-taking!
Thank you, acarbo, my daughter makes a very good model, but I don't want her to get TOO full of herself, although I fear it's too late, lol. I also have a younger daughter who I adore taking photos of, as well...I just didn't select any in that post. There's some photos of her below, but I swear she does her BEST to NOT make eye contact with my camera. Getting a good photo of her is a PAIN!
(The focus on this one SUCKS but it's so cute I just couldn't pitch it.)
You're work is awesome. I love # 3 and 7. And the first one of your little girl is too sweet. I really look forward to seeing what else you have to show us.
