Default First attempt at PP...help please!!

Okay, so I am FINALLY venturing into the world of attempting to edit my photos.

Here's my first attempt. Please give it to me. What did I do wrong, what (if anything) did I do right? Is the white blown on DH's shirt? If so, how do I figure that out for sure on my own.

I did an adjustment levels layer for the first time ever with just the white and black dropper, then went into adjust curves and moved the highlights and contrast up a tad, then sharpened for web. Oh, and I am using Photoshop Elements 5.0

    Thanks in advance!!

    Original:
Exposure: 0.013 sec (1/80) (hmmm, no idea why I was shooting this low...)
    Aperture: f/2.8
    Focal Length: 50 mm
    ISO Speed: 100

Very nice for your first attempt! Your sooc was pretty cool, and you warmed it up in your edit (im uncalibrated) It seems a bit contrasty and might print out funny. THe background looks perfect, but their faces seem to have really dark shadows. Just my opinion here, if no one else says anything about it totally disregard that last part!
