Awesome shots, Amy! That fly is great!

That first one is fantastic, Jennifer. Is that some kind of grasshopper?

Just a few snap shots from me this week (besides the CC I asked for).

At the zoo with my niece. All 3 of the kids wanted in the wagon Wink

That is not pink, it's "faded red", and those are not flowers, they're "weeds". Getting in touch with his feminine side.

Would have been decent if it hadn't have been for the dumb stick. What is it with little boys and sticks?? lol!

Amy is our resident expert on all things bugs. She informed me that it is a yellow katydid. I'm going to have to take her word on that Wink

Amy: fab shots as always. As great as the fly shots are... ick, ick, ick!!
Jennifer: That second shot is awesome... it almost looks edible, lol!
Stephanie: I LOVE the shot of Carson. All my boys love sticks but I am a sucker for photos of kids doing their thing.

I went on a course hubby bought off Groupon. It was a intensive guide to beginners photography. Some of the other delegates wondered what I was doing there, lol! I don't think it hurts to be reminded of the basics every now and then. The feedback I got was that I have no emotional connection in my photography. Gave me quite the confidence knock to be honest.

I don't think I could be told that this shot does not have emotion! It was not what I was after but I love it, imperfections and all. It is so rare to get a real smile from my middle boy

I think everyone has great shots this week, hopefully I can get some PP done tonight or tomorrow and share some. I'll be adding to the bug shots of the week.

Kerry - I don't think those people really knew what they were talking about, maybe it was the model that wasn't portraying emotion correct. I find all your shots show emotion well.

Wow Amy! You've been BUSY! I truly adore that 2nd shot and can see why it is one of your fave wild flowers. What a stunning image!

Jennifer ... You are seriously rocking the nature shots too! That second one really grabs me! What IS that? It looks so tiny and delicate. I'm guessing it's no bigger than a quarter. Am I right? The detail in this shot truly grabs me.

Stephanie ... looks like the zoo was a lot of fun! I love the pure joy in that first picture. And as for the stick picture ... I think that just SCREAMS boy to me! Love his great expression and crystal clear eyes here. WOW!

Kerry ... I don't get the lack of emotional connection in your photography. Especially not from these examples! In the first one, the girl looks so impish. Your conversion works GREAT and really draws me to her striking eyes. In the second, you show a completely different side - soft and contemplative. Again the conversion works great - especially with the soft reflection in the window. It gives this a timeless feel and creates an intense emotional response. I can imagine her day dreaming about a new love. Smile LOVE the shot of your boys. They look so happy to just be with one another. I think those folks are WAY off base. Just sayin'.

Here are a couple of snaps from me. Nothing 'serious' ... just trying to catch a few moments from this summer before it gets away from me.

from a car show we attend each summer:

after taking off a few months while we were so busy, we're back to judo classes and Loli is so thrilled:

Can you tell my big guy has serious baby fever?

Just a little fun at home:
making an Angry Birds papier mache project

and this is another Angry Birds project ... the dominoes are the pigs and he uses a super bounce ball as the angry bird. Think he might be a bit obsessed?

I know it's a lot. I just couldn't narrow it down this week. Hope it's a new trend for me. Wink

GiGi

Awesome shots, everyone!!

Kerry, PLEASE don't let those classmates bring you down. Your photos are just amazing and I look forward to seeing them in my flickr feed!!! I believe you have lovely connection and your images are full of emotion. If it was a beginners class, I imagine they were TRYING to sound informed and may have even felt a little intemmidated by you. Just know you have a lot of fans!

GiGi, that flower is a lantana. The bud head is probably about the size of a nickle. DH bought it for me for mother's day and the blooms just looked too neat!

Thank you everyone, great pics here from us all! Kerry I totally agree with our friends here that you DO have a wonderful gift and capture a LOT of emotion.

As for Jennifer's katydid, I am trying to figure out exactly what species it is, I really love the red & yellow colors! I told her I'd never seen a yellow one before and I am jealous LOL!
