Default Flashback Friday and Snapshot a Day (6/6)

TGIF! 2 weeks of summer vacation in the books! I've kept the kids pretty busy, but I think it's about time to split them up for a day and give them some time apart. They're at each other's throats already! lol!

Our first trip out geocaching. I think this will seriously be our new hobby. So much fun finding "treasure"!

Carson had been begging me for weeks to go paint some pottery. We finally made it.

Looks like a great week, Steph! I love that first shot of Hudson, he's getting big!

I'm so curious about geocaching, just have not done my homework on it... but I may need to look into that.

Love the pottery pic. I'd do that all the time with the kids if we could afford it, I just think it's so fun! The kids love it too. Though then our house would be filled with pottery that wouldn't be very useful for anything else.

Here's some shots from my week. I wish I'd changed his shirt for this one, but I was just testing some stuff quickly and didn't bother. It's just a do-over of an old shot, trying to get a bit more rim light (not too successfully).

Nora is LOVING reading to Micah right now. The two of them are always cuddled up with a book somewhere together!

Yes, Carson would go to the pottery place all the time if he could! I told the kids that if they wanted to go, they had to spend their own money. Carson happily obliged. I think it's a bit too expensive for what it is. I mean, what is my friend's little boy going to do with a ceramic spider?? At least mine both chose useful things. A cup and a bank. Lol!

I love those shots from in the woods. Especially the one of Micah laying down. And yum to the watermelon!

Oh! And geocaching! It's basically people hide something and list the coordinates of the cache and others try to find it. Some just have a log book, and others have swag/treasure/trinkets in it that you can trade. The last one we found had a geode in it. So Carson traded some change for it. He traded a little plastic bug in another one. Not a lot of them actually have stuff in it, so you have to read the description. We are planning on making one soon with my friend and her kids. (From the picture). I use geocaching.com and their app on my phone.

Steph- Looks like you had an eventful week! We tend to stay at home most days because we live so far away from anything fun I love the sleeping one of Hudson. I've wanted to bring my boys to paint pottery some day! FUN!

Tracy- I'm so jealous of the forest you have to explore! We'd be eaten alive by bugs if we went in our woods this time of year I love the watermelon shots. Also, I am super jealous of your natural light in your house.

    Here's a few from me:

I may have already shared this, but I just love it!

LOL, Katie, we have big windows but a HORRIBLE house for photography otherwise... I'm glad that at least the nice light shows in the pics! (We have orange walls, and yellow walls, from the previous owners, and very few good spots for taking a decent, uncluttered picture.)

We just got a kite yesterday -- we were at Costco and saw some really nice ones there, and boy, is it fun! Love these evening pics. It gets dark so late here now that we can't quite hit that golden hour with the kids, but it's beautiful light for kite flying in the pics. And the first one is great, I love stuff like that. The last one is very cute!

Stephanie - It looks like your week was lots of fun, and you got some wonderful shots.

Tracy - Great shots of the kids, they look like they play so well together.

Katie - You got some wonderful shots druing kite flying, I think the one of your husband is especially fun. I have a couple of kites in the garage, have to wait for a windy day and take one out to fly with Natalie, she's been wanting to play with one of them for a while.

Steph ... Hudson is just getting TOO big too fast! Love to watch along though. I love that one of Carson and Jackson together - what a perfect brother moment. Looks to me like you guys are off to a busy and exciting summer!

Tracy ... Love the cowboy hat pic! Love how Micah's eyes just SHINE! Seeing them read together like that would just melt my heart to butter! My brother and I were always at each others' throats and in the few pictures we have of us together we were fighting. *sigh* my poor mom!

Katie ... your Friday shot is just AMAZING! WOW! I love them all, but that one just grabs me. Love that last one of Ryken too. I <3 his glasses (I've always been a sucker for a man in glasses - I married one!).

    Best,

GiGi, I am very blessed with how well our kids play together and enjoy one another's company. I was just sharing yesterday with a friend that I have been having such a hard time with these sudden bouts of intense fatigue (related to my arthritis and medications), but one of the great blessings in the midst of that type of struggle is knowing that my kids genuinely LOVE spending time together and I can send them out into the yard to play, or they will read together snuggled up, and I can get some rest. It is a true gift and a delight to have them be so closely bonded. I don't know how long it will last, but for now, I count my blessings!!
