Okay, I've been having some major focus problems lately. I'm sure it has a lot to do with practice and experience, but it's getting very annoying! I was taking a few pictures of DS this morning, and I would say that in 80% of the pictures, the focus fell somewhere from the chest down. How can I fix this? I feel like I'm pretty level with him on the floor, but the focus still seems to fall on his lower half. At this point, I use AF and evaluative metering. Should I be using a different metering? Does this make any difference in focus, even? I noticed today when I was taking shots it's usually the bottom few meter dots on my camera (not sure of the correct term for these ) that blink when the focus is set. So I refocus and refocus and refocus, and then sometimes it'll catch his face. But with an increasingly active baby, I can't focus for 100 years or I'll miss the few times he actually smiles at the camera!
Any suggestions? Or is it just practice, practice, practice? TIA!
ETA: I'm having more problems with this when taking vertical shots vs. horizontal.
