First shoot with the new camera, and this little guy would not sleep! He slept while swaddled for about ten minutes, but other than that, no luck. I'm sure he must have slept like an angel all the way homeEither way, I'm happy that I got a couple nice ones. I'm not charging yet, so the mom was super thrilled. She is a friend of mine, the one in the maternity that I posted earlier. CC on anything if you are up for it.
I ran portraiture on baby, (the mom was really worried about all his red spots showing in the pics) but makes back older bro... he had perfect porcelain skin

Precious! My only nit-picky cc is I wish babies head on the first one was a bit more turned. The fuzz on the mat covers his eye.
Adorable!! I still haven't gotten a newborn to shoot since the one last August I bombed
I'm not too thrilled with the amount of PP done on #1. It looks TOO smooth to me, but that may just be my personal preference.
LOVE the eye contact in #2. The conversion is nice too.
For some reason they both look plastic in #1. Maybe it's because the lighting is so super even. Could use more shadows to define the faces.
On 2nd glance....nope, there are (or were at one point) nice shadows there.....but looks like you smoothed them so much that everything looks a bit fake.

The light source was at a 90 degree angle camera right, with a reflector camera left. Not sure where I smoothed the shadows out. The boy was entirely masked out of portraiture, I may have left in his undereye circles. and they baby had all the edges masked back in, as well as the top of the head and back, and any areas showing hair. I used some hazy layers in PP which may give a smooth/flat effect? but that is the style I like. Anyways, I do appreciate your CC and opinion, although I don't agree that the lighting is even, or that I have smoothed over the shadows. I do agree that it looks very smooth, but I think had I left out the portraiture layer, and only used the healing tool on the red patches, I would have had a very similar finished product.

Thank you
I totally agree! It was a very do or die moment with getting the baby on his tummy, and big brother snuggled up. We were trying to get that fuzz out of the way, but it just didn't happen! darn!
Thank you!
The SOOC is so much better! I think maybe it's the color of the edit? I love the SOOC.
Normally I love how smooth your pictures look....it's just in this one they look like dolls instead of children.
