    Default freaking out

I just got TWO emails for people wanting their babies 1yr photos (one in 3 weeks and one the beginning of March). I told them that I am skill building etc with no guarantee but of course would even re-shoot if I did not get anything usable - of course hopefully this will not the case

They only received an email from my friend who I took the xmas photos for less than an hour ago and I already have two requests.

Cool! It can be a tough age to photograph, but Mom and/or Dad being there is really helpful. You'll have the best chance getting any looking at you portraits in the first 15 minutes or so. I give Mom and Dad the job of getting the child to smile by being silly behind me....then it's usally very tricky to get them to look at you. SO, what I usually do with them is spend the first 15 minutes with my close up portrait shots..as long as they'll let me do it, then when they lose focus and stop looking you get all your playing "snap portraits" and environment shots.

If Mom and Dad want family photos too, I usually do that about 45 minutes into the session after the child has had a chance to play some. Be prepared with some sort of trick to get the child to look at you for the family photos...I use my lens buddy at this point, or a cool light up or sound making toy.

Do you have seamless paper? I would ask if they might want a cake smash. Cake smashes are easier because, well, there is cake!

aww thanks ladies you're so supportive
I only mentioned to the one about cake smash but she wants to wait until her dd's 1st birthday do give cake (thats ok I was the same way haha)
I mentioned the balloon thing that I did for Evan's and she seemed to like that.

It's up to 3 now, so far only one has replied to my initial "fyi" about my abilities and is still interested. I'd be surprised if I didn't hear back from the other 2 b/c hey it's free right.

Thanks for the info on the 15min. Doesn't give me much time to "warm up" but makes perfect sense.
