Hey, ladies, after a year long hiatus from PG, I'm back.
I haven't been taking hardly any pics lately- my 22-month-old son is always either facing away from the camera, or grabbing at it (he loves to look at pics of himself on the LCD, narcissistic little boy)... the pictures I DO take, though, I can't ever get his skin tone right. Was hoping for some help. My camera has different film modes... most of these are taken on "standard" with auto white balance.

Exhibit A (taken in bright sunlight):
Does that look right to you? I've been staring at it for too long. Screw the composition of the shot, I'm just going for skin tone.

Then there's these (more typical):

Does he look gray to you too? Is he underexposed? At the time my camera (in manual) said the exposure was right (histogram) but... he looks gray to me. So I switched "film mode" to "vibrant" and he looks neon-ish:

Or is that right? Any hints or tips for correcting skin tone issues? He's always looked a bit grey in most of my pics.
