Default Help! What would you do?

As per my "Last minute tips?" thread, I'm supposed to be doing a photo shoot of a senior today. We arranged to meet at a certain park, and they went there to check it out, I scouted out alternate locations in case of rain, etc. It IS raining today, but the park has the most tree cover of anywhere we went, and so we settled on it after a lot of work.

NOW the mom wants to do the photos in their back yard instead, as it's more central to everyone involved. It's a regular city lot, perhaps a slightly bigger back yard than normal, but still, a fenced-in city lot back yard. I really do not want to shoot there. The only reason she's saying it is that the husband doesn't want to take his Corvette out in the rain, and we could get car pics there. But we could probably do car pics there and then move on to the park, is my thought. It just seems she'd prefer the whole thing in one easy location, but I know it's much harder to get really great photos in a yard like that, so I'm so reluctant!

What would you say in response?

I would urge the mom to do car pics at home, maybe a few in the back yard, and then move to the park.

If push comes to shove, do them there, but I would leave that as a last resort. I had that happen for one of my seniors though it was the girl who just wouldn't leave home. I got lucky and they lived on a beautiful ranch, but it was not the "urban session" we had originally agreed upon and it did throw me for a loop.

I know you'll make the best of it no matter what. But if you can get them to the park or some other away-from-home location, I'm sure everyone will be happier in the long run.

    Best,
    GiGi

Thanks, GiGi! I talked to the mom and she agreed the park would be better. We may do the Corvette pics another time, just with their two sons instead, as there just isn't time with all of the parties involved to do the car pics today.

I appreciate the suggestions from you and Steph in the other thread too, thank you! I know the boy is really into music, so I asked his mom if he'd want a few shots with his guitar; turns out he was in a band with the three other boys, so they're all bringing their guitars and that should be a fun shot too. Then we've got sunglasses coming for the sunglass/bodyguard shot Steph suggested, and we'll also have a bunch of black umbrellas if it's raining. So lots to work with, and just praying I get some decent shots!
