I don't usually do this. Prayers please * 2nd Update Post #25**

Hi

I am not sure if you have noticed but I am an Aussie. You have probably heard about the devastating floods we have had over the last few weeks up in out top state Queensland.

Well my cousin lost his house, cars etc but him and his wife and kids got out alive, only just but.

That is not what I am asking for prayers for. Queensland is about to be hit by a 500 kilometer wide cyclone.(to put it in perspective 500 kilometers is about the size of the entire state of queensland) while they are preparing as much as possible for this, there is bound to be a lot of damage of property. I just hope that there wont be any lives lost.

The thing is about 70% of my family live in the are that is looking to be hit worse than the rest. They are worried up there, we are beside ourselves here. Especially after what happened with the flooding.

Here is a picture of where the cyclone is likely to be hitting. The green dots are something I have added to represent the areas where my family are.

here is a link to the story and the satellite pictures to see the scope of it.

So I am just asking for thoughts and prayers for my family and the friends I have up there please.

Sending prayers to you, your family, and all the other residents of Queensland. Australia has been hit so hard this year.

wow, this is frightening! I will pray for you and your family! I'm from IL where tornadoes are common, and I remember how scary it was to be waiting for it to hit! Be safe.

Thanks

Overnight the cyclone was upgraded to category 5 from just below a 4. It has just start to hit the mainland on the edges and the bad part is expected in about 4 hours from now.

Turns out that Cardwell, where pretty much half of that town consists of my family(I went to high school up there), is going to be hit the hardest and they are expecting a 7 meter(20 foot) tidal surge(like a very slow tsunami) as well. The water is already over the pier there and its only going to climb.

My family has gathered into my Aunt and Uncles house to be together. I just hope that they survive because that is exactly what it is coming to, who will survive! Whole towns WILL be wiped out and they think at the bottom end over 10,000 homes will be flooded in townsville alone.

We have been kept up to date by phone and text message and of course facebook.

I have never prayed so hard in my life.

Thanks again for your thoughts and prayers

Thanks everyone.

It was a horrible event. So far there have been no reports of injury or death.

I have just heard that my family has come through, property damage, uprooted 40 foot palm trees, rooves peeling off both cars and buildings.

The town of Tully where I went to school is about 90% extreme damage.

And I just heard that my home town of cardwell, where a lot of my family and friends live is completely wiped out. Fortunately they evacuated it yesterday, my family are all okay so far.

They are still waiting for the second tidal wave which will pretty much finish up whatever is still left standing in the town and we are hoping that the wave wont reach my aunts place where they are all safe for now. It probably will though.

Thank you again for your thoughts and prayers, please keep them coming. I have just now tried to phone 4 of the ones with phones just now and there is no service any more so we are all over facbook looking for any sign!

They will continue to stay in our prayers, but I'm glad to hear that your family appears to have come through OK - property damage not withstanding.

I hope that things will not be too bad when the clouds clear.

Best,
GiGi

I'm just seeing this now. I can't believe it, that's just a lot of damage. But thank God your family is safe. I hope that your aunt's house makes it through the water okay. Will pray for a safe rebuild for everyone.

Thanks again

There are still some family we havent heard from yet but hopefully will soon.

So far there has been one death, a 23 yo man died from suffocation from his generator fumes while closed into a room hiding from the cyclone.

There are reports of a couple missing from cardwell but no news on them yet.

It certainly has been a long few weeks in australia. But I know we are not the only ones being affected by wild and crazy weather!
