I need decision makers!!

Ok, Calumet Photo is having an awesome sale on their seamless paper. $21.74 with free shipping. I can't even get that price for paper here locally. So, I'm going to get a few rolls.

I've already ordered Arctic White and I have Savage Studio Gray (light gray) and either True Blue or Sky Blue (can't remember which one).

So, should I go for a girlie color like pink or purple, go for a neutral color like green, or get the smoke gray (Calumet's Thunder Gray). I'm stumped!! I want them all, but I can just get one more roll.

What would you do?

Here are the ones I'm looking at....

Carnation Pink

Rose Pink

Crocus Purple

Leaf Green

Smoke Gray

Oh, that's a tough one. Since you already have a white and gray for the neutral colors, I think it would be fun to go with a pink, since you already have a blue. But then I have two girls and don't really take photos of other people, so I tend to go girly. But then on the other hand, it would be nice to get more use out of it. The green would be nice, because you could add props to make it really fit a lot of different "themes". I guess it all depends on what you want to do. Sorry, I was NO help!

Do you have a stand for your seamless? If yes, what stand do you use? This is a great price and I would LOVE to get some, but I don't have a stand and not sure how I would hang it.

Thanks for your indecision, Tara Wink No, it's a tough one because I want them ALL!! But, I really do need to pick just one. I am starting to lean towards the leaf green...I'll wait to see what others think.

I want to get a new stand SO BAD!! Right now I'm using a PVC stand DH made for me. It IS really nice, it can be adjusted for different heights, functions just as it's supposed to, and only cost about 30 bucks in materials. BUT, it takes up a lot of room and I'd love something more compact and portable. I'm going to try to save up for a nice Savage port-a-stand.

There are a lot of DIY paper stand ideas out there, here's a quick one I found on google search. You can also get by without a stand. Just put the roll on the floor and unravel the paper and tape it to a wall. Gives the same effect, you just need to have wall space big enough.

Thanks for the links! I think the green is a good choice, because like I said before, you can make it work for a bunch of different "themes". Good luck choosing. I can see why you want them ALL!!!

As I don't PERSONALLY have a grey, that's what *I* would choose. but since you already have a light grey plus a black and white, I would probably go for the green if I were you. It's a nice versatile color that can be used for boys, girls, adults, and kids alike.

HTH!

Ooh! Do you know how long the sale lasts? I may have to order some as well! I just used seamless for the first time this weekend and I loved it! I only have gray so I would love to get another color or two!

I think the leaf green would be a good choice! It could go well with pink if your daughter is wearing that, yet is could be used for boys as well. I was thinking about a turquoisy kind of blue for the same reason. Off to go check out the colors...

Charcoal or the green ... you're right, that's a tough decision!

I want to get one now too. Lol I wonder if it would fit on my PVC stand ... (I use only fabric right now)

I was gonna say pink (I would go with the carnation pink), because I would totally want pink if I had a little girl. But Katie makes a good point in that the green is versatile and would compliment pink well. Sooo....the pink or green! Haha, I guess I'm no help either!

I have savage coral which is a nice pink and I love it. I even put Liam on it, only for valentines day though. I really really really love my savage bone, but you can probably create that with the white.

great price, locally here they are like $30 a roll, so with free shipping, thats awesome!

Katie, the sale lasts until Feb 28th. You can find Calumet on Amazon, too. Calumet's website wasn't showing the sale price in the cart, so I had to buy from their amazon store. But, it looks like they've got that figured out now. There are a lot more options on their website than on Amazon.

Gwen, the thing with the seamless compared to fabric is how top heavy the stand gets. My stand has T legs on it so that it is pretty stable. Depending on how your leg base is set up, it may work.

Marcie, I'm SO jealous you have bone!! I wanted that SO bad but my local store didn't carry it, that's why I got the studio gray. But with Calumet's prices, there's probably a similar color Wink But I think I've got neutral covered.

I'm really leaning towards that green. It would go with so many clothing colors...purple, yellow, pink, blue, red, etc. That's probably the most logical choice for universal. As you can tell with my V-day card, I use the blue with Rylee. It goes great with pinks and yellows! I think the pink paper would just be a bit much and would really limit what I'd be able to use with it. Sorry, just thinking out loud.

I'm another fan of the green! I also like the purple (crocus), but since you already have a blue, it might be a bit redundant.

Ooh I love the last three! Beautiful. I'm not too into the pinks. I'd choose green too if you already have a gray & blue. I'm with Gwen, I wanna get this too to try instead of fabric! Great price!

I see green is the favorite here - and that was going to be my pick too.

Just an FYI - backdrops can shed some serious color casts. I have pink and purple and although the purple isn't bad, pink can be terrible! Just food for thought Smile

I just notice my siggy is a perfect example - my dd's face is too pink/red because I had my pink seamless up. I did a lot of color balancing for that picture

Good point about the color casts. I could definitely see pink causing some skin problems. I'm pretty decided on green.

Thanks everyone!

You have inspired me to order some also! I am going to put DH to work this weekend and have him build me a stand. He is always looking for things to build, so he'll be happy to help me out!

Awesome, Tara!!

My stand (if you'd like an idea of what I use) is very much like this, but instead of plyboard feet, I have PVC T joints at the bottom with lengths of PVC going forwards and backwards. DH also added an inner PVC tube with holes drilled in it to extend the height of the whole stand. So, it is adjustable up to 3 different heights.

I just got my roll of white paper last night, so I'll put it all together tonight and take some pics for you (if I can remember!)

Green is a good choice. I have an awesome green fabric that I love to use. I have a nice yellow too. The color casts were the reason I didn't suggest the pinks at all. The darker gray is a nice option, but since you already have a light gray, the green will be a perfect addition. Smile

My stand has the T feet ... but for some reason, they keep falling apart. I've tried using PVC cement, but it's not holding. So I'm wondering if the paper will really make it fall apart. But I think at that price, I'd be insane not to try it. Wink

How do the rolls fit onto a PVC stand?

From the looks of the drawing that Jennifer posted, it looks like you don't cememt certain pieces of the stand. Then you can take it apart on the top to put the roll on, and also to take apart to store. DH was looking at the drawings this evening so see how many pieces of PVC he needs to pick up to make one for me.

Gwen, what kind do you have that keeps falling apart? I would hate for it to not be strong enough to hold the paper. Maybe I will have to think of a different material to make it out of.

And a silly picture of Rylee because she couldn't stand me not taking her picture.

I just ordered two rolls. Good grief! I wanted more, but I need to see how paper works out for me first. I got Oyster and Peat Brown. And I just spent well over 90 minutes reading threads in other forums about seamless and colors. My night is gone! Not good. Sad

I used a different fitting for the bottom, and so I have two 18" pieces for each leg. This is an old photo, I'll have to take a new one tomorrow. But it's the pieces on the feet that come off, despite attempts to cement them. I need to do like Jennifer and have longer pieces that go all of the way through. (Ignore the black seam at the top - my sewing machine was having issues that day when I was trying to sew the seam to thread the fabric onto my stand)

Thanks for the pictures Jennifer and Gwen! And Rylee looks so cute! I hope that some day the girls ASK me to take there pics. Right now they just like to look at the pictures on the camera, so they sit behind the camera instead of the front! Same with the video camera! Silly girls!

Gwen, those bottom T's don't go all the way through the fitting. They are two different pieces of PVC pushed into the T fitting. I'm not sure if you could put a whole piece through the middle because they have little lips on the inside (I think) to stop the pipe from going all the way through. I haven't cemented any of the pieces together so that it's as compact and small as possible when disassembled.

Sorry I've gotten you guys all obsessed Smile

Tara, don't worry. You're day will come!

that's good to know. I was thinking of messing with mine but you're right, I don't think they'll fit through. I don't know why mine come out, but I'm always worried that they'll fall apart in the middle of a session.

Is there a coupon code or something to get the free shipping? It is telling me shipping is $13.62.

Their site seems bogged down, I can't even get to the background section of their website. I'd try on Amazon. They don't have quite as large of a selection, but it is working smoothly and has free shipping.

Thanks! I got the arctic white from there Amazon page. I may get another grey or something that doesn't have too much of a color cast. But at least I got the white. I figured with free shipping, I wasn't too worried about ordering another one tomorrow. And I also had $10 from my swagbugs, so it was only 11 bucks!

Just wanted to say thanks! I saw your post wed night so I ordered a roll and already got it today! Talk about fast shipping! I think I am going to get some more before the 28th. Thanks again Jennifer

You're quite welcome.

I got my roll of Arctic white, but my Leaf green hasn't even been shipped Sad I wrote them asking for an update and haven't heard back...kinda getting annoyed. NOT that I would have any time to use it. The charge has disappeared from my account and no response. Guess they don't have that one any more?

Man that stinks. You would think they could contact you at the least. I also ordered the arctic white and was thinking of buying another roll but maybe I will wait?
