Default I want to switch to Nikon

Stupid ILP, all the posts are making me realize that the camera I REALLY want is the Nikon d700..

I have been saving for a full frame and thought I'd naturally get the mkii, but there is so much talk on ILP about how this is NOT the camera for fast moving kids (the autofocus is pretty bad as are the outer focus points). I could try the 7D, but it's not full frame and one of the reasons I want to go ff sooner rather than later is because I don't want to keep buying lenses that will "change" focal lengths on me when I upgrade!

Someone talk me off the ledge LOL..

I so replied to this, and then when I hit submit the "connection failed." BAH!

Anyway, I want one SO BADLY TOO!!! Sadly though it'll be at least a year (if not more) before we can afford to upgrade. But, there are rumors of a D700s coming out, so maybe the D700 will come down in price? A girl can hope, right?

Sorry I'm not help. I drool over it too, even in my days of hardly-taking-pictures-b/c I feel too miserable to get off the couch....

Ugh, I hate it when that happens (post being eaten)

Well at least you already shoot nikon, I'd have to sell all my canon gear (at a loss I'm sure) and then have to rebuild...blech!

    Are you not feeling well?

I'm OK, I just get hyperemesis during pregnancy which leads to excessive nausea and vomiting. I have medication which helps me keep food and drinks down, but I still feel like I'm dying most days. At least it's for a good cause, LOL! Some days are better than others.

Yeah it would suck to have to sell all of your gear. I have a friend who currently shoots Canon and also wants to get the D700. She is in the same predicament!

Oh gosh, duh, of course you are... I was lucky I never had morning sickness, just excess hunger so I gained more in my first tri than 2nd or third and I forget how horrible the first tri can be for others.. I hope it gets better for you soon!!

Can't comment on the Nikon...but my 5D Mark ii is just fine for shooting kids. Once I upgraded both lenses and camera, I hardly get an OOF picture anymore. I've read some people have focusing issues..but have not found that to be the case at all.

I haven't found this to be the case either. Though I have never used a D700 to compare. But I do rarely get out of focus shots that aren't because my ss is too slow.

I think that it depends on how invested you are in Canon whether it is worth it.

I'm saving up for the d700 too. And yes, I will hold out if they have the version with the video. That would ROCK!!!!!!!!
