Hi everyone! I have been lurking for a little bit now. I am looking into getting my first DSLR and starting to learn about photography, so I thought I would introduce myself. My name is Tara and I have 6 month old twin girls! What better excuse to learn to take great pics! I am still trying to decide which camera to get, but am leaning towards a Canon, partly because I have a Canon file SLR so I will be able to use the same lens. I won't be able to give much CC yet as I am pretty new to this. I look forward to getting to know you all and improving on my skills (once I decide which camera to get!)
Any tips on cameras would be welcome!
Welcome Tara! Can't wait to see more photos of your little cuties.
Go to the camera store and hold each camera/play around before you buy to see what you are comfortable with.
Hey, I'm a noob too!!! We can learn together
I just bought a Canon Rebel XT. I must say, I like it a lot, but I've never used another brand (all point and shoot models have been canons too).
Can't wait to see more of those girls.

Thanks for all of the warm welcomes! I had a bad experience last night at Sears getting the girls 6 month pictures taken. I think that helped me convince myself, and DH, to go with a mid-range camera instead of the entry level! I can't wait to get it and start posting pictures!
Did any of you take an intro class on photography to get the hang of all of the settings, or did you just use books/online/etc...? If you have any good books you would recommend, I would appreciate it. I am going to look at the local community college to see if they have any "not for credit" photography classes.
I'm a Canon girl myself, I love my Rebel XTi!
check the sticky threads for info - I've learned from this board, other photography sites, and the books Understanding Exposure and Digital Photography (links in sticky)

I'm late on this...but....WELCOME! I agree that the stickies are a great help and practice, practice, practice and post for cc. And do all you can to be patient with yourself...it may get frustrating at times (at least it has/continues for me!). Also, give cc whenever you can, it will help you look at pics in a different way. Doesn't have to be super technical or perfect cc, most cc is your opinion, it cannot be wrong! Can't wait to see pics from you!
