indoor maternity ideas?

OK ... so here's the deal ... Logan's muay thai coach and his better half are expecting a little boy in about 2 months and they asked me to do some maternity pictures.

Originally we had planned to go to a local park at sunset and get some shots. But the Texas heat and humidity has this mom-to-be wilting (me too, for that matter).

SO ... since I don't have an indoor studio space and they don't have a good place in their small apartment, we're going to be doing the shoot at the gym. Yes, the gym.

I'll have my lights (2 ab800s) and my backdrop stand. I have black and white muslin. I have a roll of red seamless, but that doesn't seem appropriate.

Do you guys have any ideas on posing and/or how to create a more 'home-like' look while actually shooting in the gym?

As the weekend gets closer, I'm getting more and more nervous. I want this to be special for them. Coach Brook means the world to Logan and this is their first child.

TIA,
GiGi

I think you should be able to pull it off with what you have. The red seamless, might work - but sounds like they want it to make it look more homey? Is there a nice chair or bench you can bring with you as part of your prop for her to sit on?

As for posing, I went to flickr and searched indoor maternity and there is a bunch of poses that you can recreate. Hope this helps. Can't wait to see it!

if you have a couple pillows and duvet you can create a "bed" shot Smile

Does the gym office have any more homey furniture that you can borrow - like a couch or a stuffed chair?

I remember that someone on ILP posted some thumbnail drawings before a maternity shoot of all the shots she wanted to get. It was really wonderful, and I know lots of users saved the PDF for future reference, including me. It's on my home computer, but if you want it, PM me your e-mail addy and I'll send it to you.

Good luck!

THANKS EVERYONE! I did go to flikr for ideas. Flikr and google images are almost always my first starting point.

Krista, I'll send you my addy. I'd love to see that! I had some trouble w/ my ILP id and still haven't bothered to work it out (it's been more than a year now).

I appreciate it, guys!

Best,
