Intro and a couple for CC

Hi all,
I've been lurking on here the past few days so I thought I should introduce myself. I'm Kimberly, mama to 2 sweet boys (Cael and Sam) and I've had a Nikon DSLR for the past 2 years. I've been busy with work, wedding planning (got married last Oct), house hunting and moving (we moved to a new house in Jan). Now that I'm on mat leave and quite possibly not going back to work for a while, I really want to learn how to better use my camera. This board seems pretty busy and obviously you ladies really know your stuff so I thought this would be a great place to start.
I usually just take photos and print them without ever doing any PP so I'm posting 2 photos SOOC for some CC (that's a lot of acronyms for one sentence). Cael was painting outside the other day so I took some shots of him. I have no idea where to start with editing so some tips would be greatly appreciated. I hope these aren't too big...
Oh yea, PTE Smile

I really like the artistic quality of #1. I just think you should adjust the exposure and bump the curves a little bit. A little post processing and it'll be a superb picture! I would love to see what you can do when you process it! Smile

Welcome. Great job in posting for CC. Both picture looks underexposed. I would suggest reading the sticky tutorials on here. Lots of great information on there.

welcome!!!!! I agree that they're both underexposed. and due to your high ISO, you should remove some of the noise (the community version of Noiseware is free, great software!). I like the perspective of the first one!

WELCOME! I can't wait to see more of you and your boys! I really like the idea behind the first one. As El mentioned, both are underexposed and pretty noisy because of it. Do you own editing software? If not, GIMP is easy and free to download. What kind of camera are you using?

These are pretty small to try to play with, but this is what nothing more than a bump in curves does:

If you lower your SS (for pics like this, I would've set mine around 1/250), you should be able to lower your ISO which will reduce the noise. I love the first pic - the colors are great!

:wavehello: Glad you are joining us! I agree with others on cc. I htink the first one is a great shot, just underexposed. I think you can lower your ISO, and make it much better. Can't wait to see more work from you!
