He made his appearance on November 6 at 2:24pm! He weighed 8lbs 6oz and was 21in long. My worst fear was to go into labor in the morning at around 7-7:30 in the morning, because the traffic is terrible at that time and there's only one way out of town, and that almost happened! My water broke at 6am, and we made it out of the house by 6:45. That's just before the traffic got bad. Phew!
Labor went well. I got my epidural as soon as I could, and things kind of halted a bit. I really wanted my doctor to deliver, and she was only on call until 5:30, so she gave me some pitocin and the nurse brought out this big peanut shaped exercise ball to put between my legs to open things up. 45 minutes like that did the trick! I pushed about 4 times and he was out. Recovery hasn't been as great as after Jackson, but still 100 times better than with Carson. I'm pretty much back to my old self today, with the exception of exhaustion that comes with a newborn
Things are so different with this little guy. He's a pretty chill little dude, and hasn't needed the pacifier much. (Of course, I probably just jinxed myself...) He did give us a scare in the hospital when he spit up some mucus and couldn't breathe. I pushed the emergency button and they wisked him off and suctioned out 8ml of mucus from birth. He continued to choke and gag quite a bit, but no scary episodes. This is the first child that has slept in the room with us. We haven't felt comfortable with him all the way across the house yet, though tonight may be the first night apart, since he's done well the past 2 nights. Dr. said that he's having normal newborn reflux issues (without the spitting), and just needs to mature his digestive tract.
I think that's pretty much it! I know some of you have seen some photos on Facebook, so I apologize for not posting more for the ones who haven't. I will try to get online later and share some more. I have family coming in today, and staying most of the week, so I will probably be MIA for a few more days.
