Default Jack's 2 year portraits - CC please (pic heavy)

8x10 prints are on sale from mpix until midnight tonight, so I want to get his wall portrait ordered. I took these yesterday.

    1. This is the one I'm ordering, so I'd really love CC on it. I feel like I'm struggling with skin tones due to the color of the stones behind him. Getting eye contact with a 2 year old is next to impossible, so this is the best of the bunch. Anyhow, would love CC on color mostly, but if there's anything else jumping out, let me know too. Not sure if I should get portrait or landscape ... thoughts?

    Exposure: 0.003 sec (1/320)
    Aperture: f/3.2
    Focal Length: 51 mm
    ISO Speed: 160

    Landscape

Portrait (I know technically his eyes should be more to the right so that he's looking into the frame, but I didn't like that crop)

    2. Peekaboo!

    Exposure: 0.002 sec (1/640)

    5. On the move! (I love this one, it's so Jack)

    Exposure: 0.003 sec (1/320)
    Aperture: f/3.5
    Focal Length: 62 mm
    ISO Speed: 250

    6. Another on the move photo

    Exposure: 0.003 sec (1/400)
    Aperture: f/3.2
    Focal Length: 51 mm
    ISO Speed: 160

    7. I'm drawn to the backs of kids like this ... and yes he's centered, but that's how I like it.

    Exposure: 0.008 sec (1/125)
    Aperture: f/3.2
    Focal Length: 28 mm
    ISO Speed: 160

    8. Andrew at the first location (from my bokeh thread). A bee freaked him out right after I snapped this, in fact, you can see the tension in his left shoulder as he's about to jump up. The bees liked his shirt.

    Exposure: 0.001 sec (1/1250)
    Aperture: f/2.5
    Focal Length: 30 mm
    ISO Speed: 160

I've been waiting for this thread, Gwen! Jack looks adorable and perfectly 2 years old.

    Here's my $0.02 ...

    1. I prefer the landscape crop. Since his eyes are looking to our left, the lack of space on that side of the frame bothers me. In the landscape crop, I'm immediately drawn to his beautiful eyes. I love the sun kissed shine on his hair too. Skin tones look fine to me. There's a blown spot on his left shoulder, but it's not so bright that it bothers me.

    2. This is VERY CUTE! And you got some really nice bokeh here.

    3. LOVE IT! Exposure looks really great and I can't believe how sharp his whole body looks at f/3.2. NICE! I'd watch the plant behind his head. Due to the shallow DOF, I don't know if it's worth cloning out, but it does catch my eye.

    4. LOVE his expression here, but he looks a bit on the cool side. The whites of his eyes also seem a bit on the blue side. He looks more like Andrew here.

    5. ALL BOY! Love the 'on the move' pics. Very nice bokeh here. Exposure and focus look spot on too (again, I'm impressed that he is so in focus at f/3.5). Wish his fingers hadn't been chopped though.

    6. I like this one a lot. The vibrant colors seem to go with the summer mood. The shallow DOF gives the background a nice soft feel.

    7. I don't mind him being centered either ... it's a cute shot. And I like how the lines of the structure beside him lead your eye right to Jack. I love the rich tones here.

    8. That location is really pretty! I love how clear the reflection of the trees is on the water. Everything has that soft and serene feel and makes me wonder what deep thoughts Andrew could be contemplating (I wouldn't have thought it would be about a bee). That deep squat makes my knees ache though.

TFS, Gwen! This is another outstanding set!

    Best,
    GiGi

I don't have a whole lot of time to give in-dept CC, but then I don't really think it would be that helpful anyway since I am trying to figure it all out myself.

#1, I LOVE this pic of Jack! But then I love pretty much any pic of that sweet little boy! I like the landscape crop better.

The peek-a-boo ones are cute! They might look really good side by side!

    #4 is very sweet!

#7, I love this one also! I too love pics of kids walking away. They just look so cute from behind and the centeredness (is that even a word!) doesn't bother me at all.

#8, what a beautiful location! I would freak out about the bees also!

Very nice Gwen! I love that stonework in the beginning and how it looks as bokeh. Great colors. But I see what you mean about getting the skin right with that behind him--did it make his face ever so slightly orange-toned?

I too love the way babies/toddlers look from behind as they're walking---too cute!
