JMK share (CC welcome too)

I just have to share this -- I think it's honestly one of the best pictures I've ever taken of one of my kids, which is kind of funny as he's not even smiling or anything. But the expression is priceless and I got better focus than usual and it all kind of turned out pretty cool. So I have to share. It gives me hope I can just get better as I practice!

So glad you got "the pic"! He is so sweet. Do you sharpen for web?

Beth, I'm never quite sure about sharpening for the web, how exactly to do that properly. I did sharpen it a little after resizing though.

OH nice shot!!! Smile you did great! Do you mind if I play with it later on when I get some free time? Going to bed right now.

Oh, sure! My PP skills are deplorable, I'm sure there's lots that can be done with it! There's a large copy here if you prefer.

Oo - Cazz, I really like it in B&W!

Tracy, it's a really great shot! It's a bit underexposed, but that can be fixed pretty easily in PP. Did you shoot it in RAW? I'm new at shooting in RAW, but I love how easily I can fix exposure issues.

It's also a bit too centered for my taste. I think I'd like it better if you cropped a bit of the very top of his head off to bump his eyes up closer to that top third.

Cazz, that is FANTASTIC in B&W! I love, love, LOVE it!!! Thanks for the plays!!!

I really wanted to do a B&W of it too, but the free software I use is beyond lousy at B&W.

Krista, thanks for the thoughts about moving his eyes up to the 1/3rd line. I guess because I'm new at all of this, I am reluctant to chop parts of heads off because I'm not sure when that's OK and when it's not. But it's a good point especially in this case (head tilted down, and he has, uh, a big head anyway!).

I forgot to mention, no, I don't shoot in RAW as I only have a P&S. (I don't know if any P&S's do RAW? Mine doesn't, at any rate.) I would love to be able to shoot in RAW for exposure reasons!

What kind is it again? I know that my Fuji S5100 can do RAW.
