Default JMK: The twos are hard!

Toddlers are difficult. They are moving.. unwilling to always look at the camera (or follow any sort of direction) so I needed practice with that.. maintaining exposure in the harsh mid-day sun as well as focus with a moving object that moves as quickly as she does! I had to quickly change settings as one minute the sun was too harsh and the next, it was not because of the shade over the playground (depending where you were!) It was crazy!

It's harsh Florida sun, at around noon time. The little model (hehe) is my daughter, Carli.

This one.. no matter what I tried, the color was off because of the reflection from the tube. Would like to see how others would process this. If anyone is willing to do that, I'll post the SOOC.

Thanks for any CC in regards to photographing a busy two year old!

I just wanted to say wow, it doesn't look like it was sunny at all in the first 3-4 pics! Great job minimizing the harsh light! It's a cute set. My daughter was actually easier to photograph at age 2 rather than now at 3, because in the past several months she's come to just flat-out refuse me when I try to take good photos of her. :/ luckily last week she let me take some for the first time all summer!

toddlers are tough, but in general, I think kids of photographers (or 'momtographers') are hard. they just get tired of us, I guess.

I agree w/ Amy ... GREAT JOB on this set! I wouldn't have known in the first few you were in harsh, direct sun.

And don't worry too much about the color caste on the 'in the tunnel' shot ... it sets the mood of the photo, imho.

    TFS!

I think you did an AMAZING job! These are great and don't look like snaps, they look good! Love the last one. What a precious moment. I think that should be blown up and framed!

I agree with PP- you did a great job of shooting in full sun! And I hear you about two-year-olds- that's why you haven't seen me post any pics of my son in months. It's just too hard to get them to look at the camera.

I did a recent 'shoot' with a 2 YO and she was so hard! Oh to look at the camera she was bribed with sultanas which only worked half the time!

    You did an amazing job!

I think you did a lovely job with the sun!!! They have that nice sun kissed/faded color to them (which I LOVE) I especially love 3 and 4. The interaction between the two girls is just so sweet.

These are great! I have an almost 2 year old and know how hard it is to get shots of him, I tend to let him do his thing and don't sweat the small stuff or I would never get a shot of him, lol!

Oh my gosh... are they ever difficult to shoot at this age! Most of the pictures I have of Carli lately are in her high chair were she's still.. but there are only so many of those people care to see! (Including myself -- haha!)
