Default just a few to share

Okay, I've been REALLY trying hard to improve...but just have no time to practice! I got a new lens to play around with and I am learning how to use it. Here are a few, I have lots more I want to get CC on, but I like these and want some input. TIA

    1.
    SS-1/1000
    ap-2.8
    ISO-400
    (splendor action, eye pop action)

    2.
    SS-1/40
    ap-2.8
    ISO-200
    adjusted curves

    3.
    SS-1/50
    ap-4.5
    ISO-400

I took these for my sister, she wanted to enter him in the Gap model contest! He is a cutie, isn't he? But are they good, or sort of cheesy? Be honest. This is my first time shooting a child over the age of 3...I didn't even know what to do with him!
I adjusted curves and did an eye pop action on most of these

okay, you really need a warning about the spiders in your subject!!

the first looks a little soft to me, but I really love the image!

the spiders freak me out, but I think one with the web is really neat.

of the four of your nephew, the first is definitely the best. color is totally off on the third. (I keep meaning to enter that contest but I'm running out of time!)

    What lens did you get?

#1, looks soft probably because you have your AP set to 2.8. You have enough light to play with I think you could have bumped up your AP and lower your SS and ISO. Lovely picture, great conversion.

#2, 3 - Eeek! Spiders! Lmao. Great focus.

The others of your nephew. I agree with Gwen. I think they need to also be brighten up a bit.

I love the 1st shot, it looks like you have captured one of lifes beautiful moments and it doesn't bother me that it is a little soft.

    Spiders....Eeeekkkkkk!

As for your nephew, I agree with the cc you already have. Plus, I think the eye pop is just a tad too much, perhaps lower the opacity a little.

Thanks for the input, it really makes me see the images in a completely different way.

My new lens is a Canon 100mm Macro USM. It was my 30th bday gift from DH! I love it, but as you can see I'm still trying to figure it out.

awesome pics! I love the first one!

Question...How did you do that eye pop action. Did you use photoshop to do it?
