Haven't had a real shoot in a long LONG time...but my friend Kyle who I shot headshots for earlier this Summer asked if I could do some more.
We went back to Santa Monica which since it was a Saturday at 3pm..was a TERRIBLE idea. It was so crowded. We did a couple of shots in an alley, but then Kyle needed something from his car....and this is where I discovered my new favorite place to shoot....a parking garage.
It was great...beautiful shaded light on the bottom level and at sunset we shot on top of the garage. It was fantastic!
These are quick picks...didn't scour for the best here...just wanted to process a selection from the different looks I got.
1. The alley way.
Exposure: 0.006 sec (1/160) Aperture: f/3.2 Focal Length: 95 mm ISO Speed: 400
2.This was on the third level of the parking garage before Kyle shaved in the car!
Exposure: 0.006 sec (1/160) Aperture: f/3.5 Focal Length: 140 mm ISO Speed: 250
3. Up on the roof of the garage.
Exposure: 0.006 sec (1/160) Aperture: f/3.2 Focal Length: 110 mm ISO Speed: 320
4. On the roof as the sun started to set.
Exposure: 0.005 sec (1/200) Aperture: f/3.5 Focal Length: 180 mm ISO Speed: 100
5. My friend Paul wanted me to try to get the setting sun in a shot. I had him hold my reflector and bounced my flash off the reflector camera left to get this shot. He was going for skater boy. What do you think?
Exposure: 0.006 sec (1/160) Aperture: f/5.6 Focal Length: 70 mm ISO Speed: 320 Exposure Bias: 0 EV Flash: On, Fired
Funny that I chose all landscape orientation to show here...I got loads in portrait orientation. LOL....guess I'm just a sucker for lots of bokeh and blur.

I will happily look at Kyle any time you want. Funny about the parking garage, but it totally works! The last one is my favorite, I like his "skater" look, but I also love the setting sun and the palm tree behind him. For 2 & 3, the chopped top of the head bothers me. Not sure why, as it doesn't bother me anywhere else.

LOVE #2. The background and the scruffiness looks good here! Looks like you found a great new spot!

this kid is just MEANT to be in front of your lens! AWESOME!
My favorites are the first 2 ... I like how the exposure brings out his face fuzz ... makes him look more mature and gives it a totally different feel from his first set of headshots you shared with us. The processing on #1 also has a bit more of and "edgy" feel and I think that only compliments the more mature quality of the image.
I was oohing and aahing these pictures when I saw them. Such a gorgeous guy! You should take oodles more pictures of him... for our viewing pleasure of course. Lol. Of course as always pictures look perfect. I bet it helps to get motivated with a model like that!

Just chug-chug-chugging along.
These pics are great, love the color and clarity! Thanks for sharing. My only cc is that in #2 I
I'm not liking the head chop. Just personal preference though. I know head chops are totally acceptable, but something about this one I don't like. Maybe its too close to his hairline or something? Just my 2 cents
