These are lovely overall. Going to give HHCC, since you're ready for it.

#1. How are you retouching the skin? It looks a little strange to me. Love the comp. Baby is so cute. Wish the hand were in focus. There was no need for a super closed aperture in this shot.

#2. Background definitely needs work. Very strange stuff going on around baby's toe, leg and back. Need to re-work that background masking at 100%....maybe even closer to fix it. Vignette is too heavy for my taste.

#3. Really cute.

#4. Focus is off? Did the focus fall on the back eye instead of the front eye. If one eye just has to be OOF for the DOF that you want, it always looks better if the front one is the one in focus. I'd crop this a little closer so that you're not cropping right in the middle of crotch. A crop would also make for better ROT.

1. I agree about the skin. I am viewing on my iPad and the skin looks dull/gray.
2. Were you cloning or cleaning the background around the baby? You can see something going on around there.
3. Nice. Watch out for chop fingers.
4. His face looks a tad red. Something funky with his skin tone.

thanks ladies. I zoomed into #4 and it seems neither eye is in focus:rolleyes:
for the baby i had to do more skin smoothing than i usually prefer as he had alot of baby acne mom wanted taken care of. Here's a re-edit of #2...any better?

Maybe a texture would make that background better. It wouldn't matter if it is uneven if it's all textured. The cloning around the body is still a problem, but a little better.

Quick edit to show what I mean. Private in flickr....let me know if you want it taken down.

this looks really good! how did you do it?

My fave is def #2, love all the shades of brown, LOVE the hat!

#1 is precious! The focus is a tad off, but it's still great. I like the crop.

#3 her eyes and teeth look a little too PP, but maybe it's just her super fair skin that makes them appear more harsh? very cute otherwise!

#4 i like this, looks really natural! good job. Smile

Just added a little parchment texture with the "soft light" blending mode and gaussian blurred the texture where the baby was.
