I have no idea if I am doing this right at all!
Hi there! It's so glad to see new faces around here!
You sure do have a cutie! Your exposure looks great in your SOOC! Great job! Awesome light in her eyes! There is something that is behind her head that is kind of taking my attention from her, and I think that could have been solved by positioning yourself a tiny bit lower to have her completely cover it. Or maybe a different angle all together could have eliminated it. Not knowing the surroundings, there may have very well be something else in the background on the other side.
I think your edit looks a little "foggy" and I like the color in the SOOC better. Did you use an action? Her eyes look a little bit too sharp, but that could just be me.
She's adorable, wow! Really beautiful image, beautifully exposed. Her eyes are just stunning!
Like Steph, I also like the SOOC image better. It 'pops' more. The edited version is a bit washed out somehow.
To add to what Steph said, just a couple of observations... Usually having eyes dead center in an image isn't great. You normally want to place the focal point on an "intersection" of the thirds lines. In this case, I don't actually mind the composition at all, but it's something to keep in mind.
Also, this image is tack sharp, which is really awesome! But I notice your shutter speed was 1/100, which is sometimes too slow for kids, so to assure a sharp image every time, you want to try to keep that shutter speed above 1/125. I usually like to go higher, but that's not always possible. If you're having trouble getting it higher, you can increase your ISO.
She is a DOLL! Love that face! So glad you are posting. Your color and focus looks GREAT! I am curious to know what lens you are shooting with!?
I think you have some great CC. I might be the odd one out here, but I like the processing, but I agree, her eyes look overdone. The SOOC is AMAZING!
Wow, ladies thank you so much for all of your kind words and critique! I love taking pictures and do it as a hobby and as you can tell I have a perfect model to use She was in a swing and to be honest I didn't even notice that there was something behind her. So thank you for pointing that out. Also I just really wanted to edit so I can agree that I made the eyes "pop" a bit more then they should have. I did a color fill with a purple color and adjusted the opacity which is why is probably looks foggy to others ( I actually love the edited version). Again, I was dying to edit this imagine and play around and that was what I came up with. I do agree that the SOOC colors are more clear.
When taking this shot I was merely just shooting her at the park one evening. I have heard about the rule of not having the eyes dead center. I will work on that!
I am very new at all this and have so many shots that I need to edit but am still very new at the editing part as well. I was playing around with textures on another shot just for fun!
Oh yeah, Sadieruth I was using Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 lens.
Thanks again SO much! I am not so scared now and you ladies will be seeing some more from me!
Isn't it something how it takes so much nerve to actually post! But it's such a great feeling afterwards, isn't it?? I'm glad that you got your first post out of the way, and will be sticking around.
