Mmm Mmm! :) New edits #8

D'BF' and I went to a masquerade the other night. It was fun, so afterwards we took photos in my make shift studio for a few hours, I came across this pic, and think he looks SO "mmm" Smile but I am not sure what I can do to enhance this photo? Any suggestions?

Fix the color, or turn to chocolate black and white. I did one with the chocolate gradient turned up quite a bit and it helped the lighting look less flat.

mmmmmmmmm is right! Wink

I am seeing orange though, are you seeing orange?

Amber has a nice suggestion ... but I'd hate to lose that eye color.

Well, magenta really...and too much red. The color balance is WAY off.

why does my eye not immediately recognize magenta? I seriously have this problem on a regular basis!!! I totally see magenta not orange once I read that. ugh.

Kati, hope we can see a fixed color version!

His skin is really hard to work on because it has a lot of red in it especially around the eyes and his lips. I don't want to loose the eye color on this, but can't see me get the coloring right. I am not calibrated on this monitor, and was editing via lightroom darn skin tones

these look any better?

I think the chocolate one I will desat a little, for some reason it is showing up with more color than what I thought I edited it as.

I personally like the b&w. Wink PTE?

I couldn't wait. It was a 5minute play, let me know if you want me to take it down or if it looks NOTHING like himin person.

Great edit. I just think the white of the eyes is a bit too much on the color edit.

okay, so I did an overall color balance layer to bring down the red and the really, the magenta wasn't too high, so I just worked on bringing the yellow up a bit. But since you mentioned that he naturally does have a lot of red in his skin, I left that a bit higher. Then his lips needed to be fixed b/c the bal layer jacked them all up. So I used the lasso tool and gave them a col. bal layer and honestly, just brought up the red and the magenta a tad till they looked how um...how...how I would imagine them to look in person. ROFL

Then I softened his skin just a bit. Not too much b/c he's a man and all, but a little bit b/c of the flash work. He doesn't look as shiney now. Then b/c it was a dramatic look and b/c I know your style, I did a 50% soft light layer, then a 10% screen layer and that was it. HTH! :bigarmhug:

Kelly ... thanks for the steps ... I'm going to try that process on a pic of Carlos (he runs a bit red/magenta too)!

I love the b&w personally, as well as Kelly's edit.

HOT HOT HOT!

Thx Kel, I will have to do that from now on. I think I need to work on my PP in skin tone! It's my biggest downfall. I can shoot catchlights like a pro, but skintones I HATE! Wink He's SUCH a sweetie! Oh man! Want some bonus pics???

I am JSO, but I REALLY like the b&w. I think the eyes stand out really well that way. With the brown & white, I think you can't really tell that his eyes are blue, not that it really matters but he has a more exotic look in the b&w.

Love Kelly's edit. I wasn't fond of the chocolate one, I liked the b&w one better.
