More than the side of her face....CC please

So I got a few pictures of the front of Hannah's face while we were playing at the park the other day, and though I'd post a few of them for CC! I'd appreciate any help, CC on color, PP and well just about anything would be great!

Thanks

Oops sorry, I forgot to post the settings and for some reason the picture can't be clicked to connect to my flickr account...geeze!

Anyway here are the settings

Camera: Nikon D80
Exposure: 0.008 sec (1/125)
Aperture: f/5.6
Focal Length: 18 mm
ISO Speed: 200

I'm pretty sure my speedlight went off in this photo too, I had it set to 1/16 and bounced it behind me. (I'm still learning to use a speedlight)

I like the comp. The colour looks good to me too. Its a little dark but I like it.
I wonder how it would look cropped in close

Cazz

I think it looks good, color and all. Not loving the composition tho. I wish I can see more of her and the bar is not in front of her.

I really think you did well. The only other thing I would have liked better is if she was looking at you directly - but color and comp look fine.

I thought the same thing. I love her sweater, the colors in it stand out really nicely, and her skin looks very creamy, so it looks to me like you did a great job with exposure.

Can I ask what your settings were? The background looks pretty focused--I think a wider aperture would have worked here, but I am being really nit-picky. Smile

I love the clarity in this but I agree that a wider ap would have worked better. But great job! She is a cutie!

I agree with a wider ap...but the color, clarity, and composition are great. What were you bouncing your flash off of?

FYI - I posted the settings in the original post. I also mentioned that I bounced my speed light kind of behind me and off to my left. I'm still learning to use it (I just happened to find a Quantaray QTB-7500A in a pile of cameras and equipment that my grandfather gave me I looked it up and it seems to work well and safely with my Nikon D80) so far it's just been a lot of hit and miss but I think I may finally be starting to understand it! LOL

Thanks for all the CC! I appreciate all of it!

I wish SOOOO much that I could get a picture of her looking directly at me, but like I mentioned before the minute the camera is on her face, she looks away, I keep trying but in the meantime get use to looking at the side of her face! LOL

Thanks also for the comments on the sweater, my mom made it for her...she makes tons of sweaters, hats, mittens, etc for both her grandchildren. It's nice because I LOVE homemade!

I love her little pensive look. While I agree about the wider ap, I think that this works just fine as it is. Sure hope she starts looking your way. Smile

Too be honest, I can't remember exactly but I'm pretty sure I was aimed at the slide - it had sort of a cover type thing on it. I think it helped fill the picture with more light and least it seemed to help. I'm totally guessing here... like I said a lot of hit and miss
