Nature light portrait of kiddo for CC

I shot these photos at a local park last weekend. I took them to get more practice using manual settings while chasing my son around. This park has lots of very tall trees with clearings that make for dappled sunlight--thus, several of my pics were blown and some were underexposed.... I really like this shot the composition of this shot, the only really decent one from that day. I feel it captures Tyler's personality very well.

I played with both images using Gimp. On the second version, I added a slight curve to lighten it up. Still, his skin has some very sallowy patches that I'm not happy with. I'm not too experienced using curves, so whatever I do is trial and error.

Would appreciate any and all CC on this shot!

I'll have to post my settings when I get home.

cute shot Smile it still looks a bit underexposed though. Trying brightening it up a bit more, see what you come up with. Looks a bit warm too (yellow?) mind if I have a play at it? Smile

I'm in agreement, the color is off. I see a lot of orange (guess that means yellow?!)

definitely underexposed, sorry. Sad but you can brighten it up some for sure. and I'm seeing a ton of yellow, like the others noted.

I did a quick play - I brought it into ACR to adjust the WB and exposure and then added a smidge of contrast in photoshop. Not perfect, but a good start. Private in flickr, will take it down when you're ready.

Hi,

I haven't had a chance to get on and thank you. I like how you lightened up the image. I copied it and started playing with it again in Gimp. I'm going to go back to the original and try to recreate what you did as well as check the yellow balance. Thanks again to you and everyone else for the feedback!

Gwen's edit is really nice, but you have a nice photo to start with! The original looks a little underexposed, but no so much that you can't fix it in post. You caught a really sweet expression and I can't wait to see your next edit on it. Smile

Best,
GiGi

That is a great pic that shows a lot of personality! I agree with the others that it needs to be lightened and color fixed. Can't wait to see what you do with it!
