Need Advice...

I'm getting some awesome presents this year for Christmas. Getting a 50 mm f/1.8 from the in-laws, getting Photoshop Elements from my parents, and DH as agreed that I can get another lens for myself!!

Well, now I'm wondering if I should get another lens (looking at a Tamron AF 55-200mm F/4.0-5.6 for 90 bucks new on ebay) or to get a speedlite. I have no zoom (only on my kit lens) BUT, I take most my photos in doors where I could probably really benefit from the speedlite.

Which would you choose? Oh if I could only get both!!

Speedlight hands down. I rarely use my zoom lens--my 50 is almost always on my camera. I use my speedlight a TON!

It sounds like you've already made up your mind, but I agree with everyone else...go with the speedlight. Since you're already getting the SWEET new 50mm lens to play with and learn. Since I got mine, I use it most of the time, resorting to my zoom lenses only when I am out at family events, and/or want a wider angle shot. Plus, the winter months are approaching, and the combination of a 50mm lens and a speedlight (preferrably one that swivels so you can bounce off the ceiling or walls) will give you endless indoor possibilities!

CONGRATS on your new toys!!! I think you'll be THRILLED w/ a speed light. Zooms are nice to have, but wait until you can save up for a FAST zoom (that's what I'm doing now)!
