I will FINALLY be ordering an all-new computer this week, after SUCH a long wait. The thread about good setups for photography work is no longer here on the board (I think it was from when Sadie got a new one)....but I do remember some tips such as aiming for quad-core processor, at least 4-6 GB memory, and 1TB+ hard drive.....I have pretty much had an HP All-in-One picked out since last summer....any other details I should make sure I get?
Yay on the new computer, hope you have lots of fun with it.

Let me be the devils advocate and say have you ever considered a Apple computer? Just wondering. I just have lots of praise with the apple product - for one thing how fast it is with processing, start-up etc. Not to mention the retina display
I would love to maybe get an iMac someday but they are out of my budget range right now.....it's so funny to think the last time I used an Apple computer was in 1997, the big tan box lol

I think you have all the specs covered. Have fun with your new comp!

Thanks! I am thinking 23" monitor, is that a good size?
That would be a great size. Check the specs to see if it's IPS or TN. IPSs tend to have more uniform color, so you don't get variance when looking at it from different angles. They're also supposed to have truer color straight out of the box, but definitely calibrate if you have a colorimeter.
Awesome, thank you for the info.
update: hmmmm the one I am looking at (HP Envy 23-c110xt) says:
Display: 23" diagonal full HD widescreen LED backlit (1920 x 1080)
Is this good or not-so-good for photography purposes?

I'm no help (I have an iMac at home and at work someone else decides what I use), but I did want to say CONGRATS on the new machine!
I'm sure no matter what you end up with, you'll make the most out of it!
