    Default New lens....which one?

I am dying for a new lens. I know I had posted once before, but I can't remember the answer, and well, IDK what I want. Of course, I would die to have a great zoom lens, but $ is tight as always. I would love to have a decent zoom. My spending limit is $600. My issue is, it has to be through Best Buy so we can put it on the credit card. What would be your choice? I looks like I could get the 85 mm, 1.8 or the 50mm, 1.4. I have the 50mm 1.8, but man oh man I am not pleased with the body shots. I feel like a failure.

I meant to add that I do want it for full body portraits and family portraits. I feel as though my 50mm, 1.8 is not doing the job.

refresh my memory ... do you shoot Canon or Nikon?

I happen to LOVE my 50mm f/1.4 (Nikon). But that said, I would also really like a 35mm as well since my 50mm just isn't wide enough for indoor portraits a lot of the time - especially with a group.

I'm holding out for a longer, faster zoom though for soccer and judo. A girl can dream, right?

Good luck and enjoy whatever new toy you decide upon!

    Best,

What about the Tamron AF 28-75mm f/2.8? I was looking into that when I was trying to decide which lens I wanted next. I went with the 50mm 1.4 instead, but I didn't already have the 1.8. (but I shoot Canon...)

Could you rent a couple of lenses and see which one you think would work best for you?

Ok. I will look into that. I looked on best buy but I am not finding that one. I could be overlooking it though...

I had the 55-200 that i got on special when i bought the kit but i hated it because it didn't have VR. I've seen a lot of reviews that the 55-200VR is amazing. VR makes a HUGE difference when you are talking about that high a zoom, and it's super cheap. Something to consider maybe? The 24-120VR is $669....also another consideration maybe? I'm a huge fan of prime lenses and love my 35mm but it would be nice to have a higher zoom sometimes!

Ok, so Randall made me choose this morning and I went with the 85mm, 1.8. Hoping I won't be let down. I have read review after review. I am excited and choose it bc I wanted something with a closer length. Can't wait to get it!!!!!
