Newborn, cake smash & christmas.

Boy have I had a busy weekend. I finally got to do my niece's newborn shoot. While she was a day shy of 6 weeks old her adjusted age was 6 days old.

Anyway she wasn't very cooperative or very sleepy. I took heaps but havent been through them all yet but here is a couple.

So this morning I had a family session with my sister and all three kids all dressed for christmas. This was enormous fun.

and then this afternoon I finally got to do my nephews cake smash!! I decided to do it with the black backdrop as I had had so much trouble with the white the other week and I love it so much better than white!!!!!

Thanks for looking Biggrin

These are GREAT!!!!! I never thought of using black for a cake smash. I really like it! I must agree with GiGi, cutest elf ever!!!

Did you do any post-processing on these to get the background SO black? I only ask because I can never get mine to look that smooth. I also am going to attempt to do a newborn shoot in March for a friend. I asked her if I could use her baby, so I warned them not to expect much. I LOVE #2, but have no idea how to get it to look like that.

Great job! Can't wait to see more!

What were your settings for #3? I love that. I also love the shot of all 3 of them, SOOOOO precious; but I personally would fix the tilt and crop it differently if you have more room on the left & right?

Love them! A few seem a tad underexposed, but very cute nonetheless. It seems so strange to see kids dressed in strappy dresses and shorts for Christmas pics! I've often wondered what it would be like to have Christmas in the summertime...

Thanks. I am so proud of these.

He does make rather a cute elf.

Tara, I actually didnt touch the black but if I need to fo a shot like that I'll select the black in photoshop by using the magic wand tool and then adjust the black darker a couple of notches, you have to be careful not to overdo it.

I had serious lighting issues, we are currently experiencing an extremely cold summer and it was bucketing down rain so it was almost black in the room I normally shoot in. I still didnt want to get my speedlight out though.

A pullback would be great! I love to see how others set things up so I can try to figure out how best to set up myself.

LOVE the elf! Smile

And yes, I am impressed with the black background too. What is it? I don't have any backgrounds yet as I am in outdoor only mode, but would love to know what you use for future reference!
