Newborn inspiration

OMG - I'm in love with this photographer! There was a thread on ILP about favorite newborn photographers, so I checked a few out that I'm not familiar with, and I am no SO excited to practice on my new baby!! EEK!

Sorry if you already know/follow her work... I'm just posting because I'm inspired, and bored Smile

Oh my goodness, those are just gorgeous! I wish I was that good!

And I can't wait to see your LO in pictures! Not too much longer now. You're in the final stretch!

WOW! She IS amazing, and it looked like those pics were of her little guy too? She certainly is blessed to be that talented and to have such beautiful children!
I especially loved the pics with the visor and hair sticking straight up!

Congratulations on your soon-to-be-arriving Smile baby!

The photos are gorgeous, but I love the more natural poses the best.....honestly to me the putting-babies-in-things, and propping their arms/hands up on their faces, or curling them up like a dried leaf, and putting kooky mini hats on them is honestly waaaaaay too overdone IMO.

I agree with this in a way. I mean, I get what your saying, but I think it can be so adorable sometimes. I do love 'the pose' when its done right. I don't like enormous tacky head pieces, and stuff like that. I actually think what she has done with the visors is cute and hilarious in the post of her own son. I probably won't do it with my own baby, but I do love what she has done. I have only done one newborn so far, so I have definitely not found my style. I'm hoping when this baby comes that I can do several small shoots, and see what I like Smile I hopefully have lots to share Smile

While I am not of the fan of the pose where the baby's head is propped up on it's hands (looks way too unnatural and uncomfortable IMO), she and Brittany Woodall are the ones who pretty much lead the pack in this style of newborn photography. So everyone is getting their inspiration from them, if you look back far enough. Smile (my point is that she isn't doing something that is hackneyed, b/c it's her creativity to begin with lol, not saying that everyone has to like it of course!)

Her processing is what I am amazed by. She is a great photographer. I don't mind the positions, but some are rather uncomfortable looking. She pulls it off well though! Such sweet babies! Gives me baby fever!!!

That's what I mean Sadie, her photographic technique & processing are amazing & beautiful, it's just a lot of the poses that I don't care for. It's interesting to hear though that she was one of the first to start these poses. I do love a good baby hat though, as others can tell you!!! within reason for a new newborn though.

Very pretty work. I love how rich her colors are.

I was wondering... Is she one of the "baby as art" photographers? I was also looking at Carrie Sandoval, were they partners? I guess I could just google it Smile

I think Brittany Woodall...I remember reading about her. So young and so amazing at what she does!

The clarity of her work is amazing. I have to agree that I really dislike "the pose" and am not a huge fn of hanging babies. I love the natural look, babies sell themselves without gimmicks and silly props IMHO, but then that's how baby photography is here for the most part.

As for the shot of the baby in that hanging coccoon thing and in "the pose", just made me feel ill, looks like the baby could just fall out. I KNOW it's probably a composite and that there would have been cloning out of supporting hands or whatever, but there is always going to someone who doesn't know that, think they can do it safely and a baby will get hurt. Just my opinion.
