(I worry about that b/c Evan started to close the car door, a few times he's almost caught me. I'll def have to be very watchful that he doesn't do the same thing to me esp when he's older)

Oh that looks bad I so feel your pain. My dad slammed my hand in the door when I was 9 and nearly chopped off my fingers!!

I have a feeling Ill end up with something similar from my van. Its automatic doors and a lot of times Ill be leaning into the middle seat buckling Aybra in and Kaia will push the button and it starts closing on me.. The doors do not stop if something is in the way. Its either I jump out of the way or get smushed.
