I was having trouble posting this. It kept looking soft and contrasty. Turns out firefox wasn't on the right settings so maybe I was the only one seeing it? So I don't know. How does this look? I realize he has a pole through his head and a reflection on his glasses. Does that kill the pic?
Cloned the pole. How does it look?

It looks good and sharp to me! I didn't even notice the reflection on the glasses before I read what you wrote... it's adorable!!!
I think its really cute. The pole would be super easy to clone out if it bugs you. I think a portrait crop would look even better - that much brick really doesn't add much IMO. I'd crop it a little tighter on viewer right and about half of the brick away on viewer left so that the final image is portrait orientation and he's hugging the viewer right side of the image.
The reflection doesn't bother me at all. He is just so stinking adorable.

I'll play around with the crop and see if I can find a better one. The way his head is cocked it is hard to not center his head and still give him any space on the right.
oh, what a cutie! great job cloning too.I agree with Krissy, I think this should have a portrait crop instead. let's focus on cute Max!
Adorable! I think if you cropped it right at the break in the brick wall, it would look fine. He's not really looking OUT of the frame, and the rest of his body is facing into the frame. Might work!
Definitely #1
Agree...#1...SO cute. Definately prefer the portrait crop on this. Glare on the glasses doesn't bother me at all. Nice job removing the pole.
