one for CC, JMK and a lens question!

I am really itching to get a new lens. My 100mm (and my small living room) make it nearly impossible to get a full head shot! I would love to hear what your favorite portrait lens is and how much it cost. I love this lens but I think I am ready to try something new! Anyway, here is a cute one I got of Owen yesterday. I had to brighten it and clone out a booger ;), but here are my settings:

aperture 4.5, ss 1/200, ISO 400

Aw, wow, look at those chubby cheeks! Fantastic eye contact and those cheeks are super pinchable. Biggrin I wonder if in resizing for posting it may have lost a bit of sharpness? It looks like the eyes could be just a touch sharper?

What a cutie!!

A really great lens to have is a 50mm, I love mine!

Not sure what body you use, but a 50mm is typically a great and affordable lens for use indoors and in low light. I have the 50mm 1.4, but the 50mm 1.8 is great too.

I agree with the 50mm. I have the 1.8. Your photo of your son is just adorable!

I'm getting quite good at that! LOL!

Thanks for all your input, ladies! I've been thinking about it for a while, and I think $120 is a very fair price. Let's see, we've got mother's day coming up, then my birthday in August...I may have to drop a few hints, but hopefully I'll have a new lens within 6 months!

I would LOVE to just go for the 50 mm 1.4...but we are on a tighter budget these days, since I quit my job. Maybe someday...;)

I'm sure you'll be plenty happy w/ a 50mm f/1.8! And that focal length works pretty well indoors, especially if this example is with your 100mm. Smile

I hope you get it sooner rather than later.

Best,
