I went to check on my cats out back and saw this spider fixing its web. (it's also raining right now) Then I saw something in the middle. Dinner! lol It wasn't there earlier today. Well the spider was but not its food. (it's been camping out on my back door for about a week now...I haven't bothered removing it ) I thought it was neat. I was watching it fix its web. Then he started eating...bleh! It was weird but kinda cool. It is dark out so I used my speed light and since it was too dark I couldn't focus properly (i used my close up filters for this) so I used a flashlight to focus properly and took the picture. Just wanted to share! You can probably click on it to see it a bit bigger

that's pretty cool! I almost didn't open this because I'm not a fan of spiders, but I'm really digging this!

Great one---I LOVE the bokeh!!! and the droplets on the web!
I had this big garden argiope spider in my garden this summer and one day it had THREE grasshoppers wound up like mummies--it was creepy but cool!
3 grasshoppers! wow... what a feast! lol I was sorta watching this spider eat whatever bug it caught. It was a bit fascinating. He was finished within half an hour eating it. Now its sitting there waiting patiently for its next meal. I think it has a good spot actually because a lot of bugs come seeking shelter right there. I took this photo through the window too btw.
That is a great shot! I too love the droplets and your focus. Great shot!

Wow even better, thru a window, I'd never have known! I find it very interesting watching them "work" too...they are amazing creatures...and I think it's cool that some spiders create webs to passively catch their prey, and other spiders actively hunt and catch their prey themselves rather than using webs. Not to mention all the different TYPES of webs that different species make--it's amazing!
well ... the 'ick factor' is pretty high on this one, but you did a GREAT JOB anyway!
