Default Paris this weekend...and rain...(eta: pics)

Well my friend is arriving Friday morning. I am so stinkin excited you have no idea! We leave for Paris on Saturday morning. I've been watching the weather online and so far it has said it's suppose to rain all weekend. i'm NOT happy about that. I have a rain jacket and an umbrella and I'll be buying panchos tomorrow. I hope it doesn't rain though. At least not much. But I am taking my dslr with me in my lowepro backpack. It's water resistant, so it says. Anyway, yesterday I went looking for a rain cover for my camera and neither store I went to has one. Figures! So I was thinking of just making my own out of a plastic bag and rubber bands here at home. What do you think? Has anyone ever done this before? I will be walking around with my umbrella but holding my camera and the umbrella at the same time is going to be a bit challenging. My friend will be there to help me out a bit though. I am so worried my camera will get wet though. I hope not. I'll be using my tamron lens for outdoor shots I think and will take my 30mm as well for indoor. So exciting. This time I won't have my kids with me so I think I'll be able to concentrate more on taking pictures. I'll be uploading pics via my cell phone to facebook if ya'll want to see later on this weekend. I probably won't get a chance to share any pics until after my friend leaves. I don't want to put my camera away just because it's raining though. I won't get any pictures taken at all that way. So if any of you have any experience with shooting in the rain let me know! It's too late for me to order anything online now. Unfortunately. I didn't think I'd need a rain cover. ..... I hate the rain

Ok so it still looks like it might rain this weekend in Paris. I hope it doesn't rain too hard though. I can handle a little bit.

Well since no one seems to have experience with shooting in the rain here, I went ahead and made something of my own and I'm hoping it works. It's better to be safe than sorry right? Thought I'd share anyway.

here I used a regular ziploc bag with rubber bands.

and here is a simple bread bag. not as thick as the ziploc but still good enough I think.

So yeah. Those are my solutions and I hope they work. Thanks for reading my post anyway! Sorry for rambling...just kinda excited ya know. I've never traveled anywhere without my kids before.

I'm excited for you!!! I don't have any ideas about the raingear, sorry...I'd probably just Google/search for it but your bags look good really.

I can't wait to see your pics!! Your last trip looked awesome, especially the nighttime city lights!!!

I find the bread bags that my grocery store sells tend to tear a bit easy so its not the greatest solution. Love the ideas hope it works.

    Have a good trip.

yeah I think I'll be using the ziploc bag if it starts raining and I really need it it was either that or a thick grocery bag lol it was a bit too big though
